Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian tentang perlakuan panas pada stainless steel AISI 316L dengan metode carburizing yang diikuti proses quenching. Temperatur pemanasan yang digunakan yaitu 500˚C, 700˚C, 900˚C, dan media quenching yang digunakan yaitu udara, oli SAE 40, dan air. Hasil pengujian Mikroskop Optik menunjukkan spesimen hasil carburizing pada temperatur pemanasan 500℃ tidak memiliki perubahan fase terhadap spesimen tanpa perlakuan, sedangkan spesimen hasil carburizing pada temperatur pemanasan 900℃ dan 700℃ mengalami perubahan fase dari austenit menjadi ferit dan karbida. Hasil pengujian kadar karbon menggunakan Spectrometer Arc sebelum diberi perlakuan adalah 0,031%, dan hasil pengujian kekerasan menggunakan Micro Vickers Hardness Tester sebelum diberi perlakuan adalah 101 HV. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kadar karbon dan nilai kekerasan optimum diperoleh pada temperatur pemanasan 900˚C yang diikuti proses quenching dengan media air. Nilai kadar karbon sebesar 0,627%C dan nilai kekerasan sebesar 363,67 HV

English Abstract

Research about carburizing on AISI 316L stainless steel followed by quenching was investigated. Specimens were treated at 500˚C, 700˚C, and 900˚C and quenched with air, oli SAE 40, and water. Besed on Optical Microscope result, the specimens that were carburized at 500℃ didn’t have different phase from nontreatment specimen, but the specimens that were carburized at 700℃ and 900℃ transformed in phase from austenite to ferrite and carbide. The result of testing carbon content using Spectrometer Arc for spesimen non-treatment is 0,031%, and the result of hardness testing using Micro Vickers Hardness Tester for spesimen nontreatment is 101 HV. The results showed that the optimum carbon content and the hardness value were obtained at a heating temperature of 900˚C followed by quenching with water. The carbon content value is 0,627% C and the hardness value is 363,67 HV.
