Abstract
Betawi adalah salah satu etnik yang berada di Indonesia, khususnya di Jakarta. Betawi sendiri memiliki salah satu ciri kebudayaan yaitu Ondel ondel. Pada jaman dahulu ada boneka raksasa yang bersifat untuk penolak bala dan terbuat dari bambu. Ondel ondel sendiri terdiri dari laki laki dan perempuan yang memiliki karakteristik yang berbeda. Oleh karena itu penulis melakukan kajian tentang perubahan ondel ondel antara dulu dan sekarang di kebudayaan Betawi. Tipps menjelaskan bahwa modernisasi itu adalah proses yang memulai menggunakan metode yang baru. Modernisasi menjadi transisi atau lebih sebuah bagian transisi dari primitif, kemajuan ekonomi ke perkembangan teknologi. Pengaruh yang diterima oleh tradisi itu sangat jelas dalam kasus teori modernisasi. Hasil dari penelitian ini dibagi menjadi tiga temuan, pertama adalah penjelasan ondel ondel pada jaman dahulu, kedua adalah penjelasan ondel ondel pada jaman sekarang, dan yang ketiga adalah bagaimana perubahan itu terjadi selama modernisasi. Dari 3 pembahasan diatas bisa disimpulkan bahwa ondel ondel sangat mengalami pergeseran perubahan yang signifikan dari jaman dulu ke jaman sekarang, dari sisi ritual ke sisi konsumsi masyarakat.
English Abstract
Betawi is one of the ethnic groups in Indonesia which mostly live in Jakarta. Betawi itself has one culture that called Ondel-Ondel. In the past times, there were giant dolls that were repellent and made of bamboo. Ondel-ondel itself consists of men and women who have different characteristics. Therefore, the researcher conducted a study of the transformation of Ondel-ondel between from the past to the present in the Betawi culture. According to Tipps modernization is the process of starting to use the most recent methods. Modernization becomes a transition or rather a series of transitions from primitive, subsistence economies to technology intensive. The influence of such received traditions is particularly evident in the case of modernization theory. The result of the analysis is divided into three findings, first is Ondel-ondel in the past time, second is Ondel-ondel in the present time, and the third is the transformation occurred due to modernization. From the three findings, it can be concluded that Ondel-ondel has experienced a significant shift transformation from the past times to present times, from the ritual side to the consumerism by society.
