Syahputra, Rizal Pandu (2018) Potensi Terapi Topikal VCO (Virgin Coconut Oil ) pada Tikus (Rattus norvegicus) Model Luka Bakar Derajat II B terhadap Kadar TNF-α dan Ketebalan Epidermis. Sarjana thesis, Universitas Brawijaya.

Abstract

English Abstract

Burn wound can cause local and systemic damage until the certain scale which can lead to death. Currently, the treatment of burns generally use placenta extract which has the ability to accelerate the re-epithelization. VCO (Virgin Coconut Oil) has the potential to be used as second-degree burn therapy because VCO contains phytosterol which serves as anti-inflammatory, tocopherol which has a function as antioxidant and free fatty acid which have antimicrobial activity It is also able to speed up metabolism. The objective of this research was to know the difference response of topical agent between placenta extract and VCO in healing II B degree burn wound. This study used post test only two experimental group design, 2 treatment group those were treated with placenta extract and VCO. The induction of the burn wound was created on the flank of rat (Rattus norvegicus) as wide as 2x2cm. The expression of TNF-α was analyzed with Sandwich ELISA, while the thickness of the epidermis was stained with HE, then analyzed microscopically. The data were analyzed quantitatively using Independent T test. The result showed that was no significant differences (p>0.05) between therapeutic group of VCO ointment and therapeutic group of placenta extract gel on II B degree burn wound toward TNF-α level and the epidermis thickness. It could be concluded that topical therapeutic of VCO ointment could be used as topical therapy of II B degree burn wound.
