Abstract
Kolonisasi dapat terjadi di manapun dengan tujuan untuk memperluas teritori negara penjajah. Hal ini tidak hanya dilakukan oleh negara Barat terhadap negara Timur tetapi juga terjadi di antara negara-negara Barat. Salah satu contoh kolonialisme yang terjadi antara negara Barat adalah Inggris dengan Irlandia. Negara penjajah bertindak sebagai entitas adidaya terhadap negara jajahannya dan mempengaruhi berbagai aspek di negara jajahan salah satunya adalah aspek kesusastraan. Hasil daripada kolonisasi terhadap kesusastraan yakni bahwa negara penjajah akan berada di posisi lebih baik di banyak aspek dibandingkan negara jajahan. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori pasca kolonialisme oleh Frantz Fanon yang berfokus pada aspek inferioritas untuk menganalisis objek penelitian. Terdapat beberapa konsep dalam teori pasca kolonialisme. Efek psikologis dalam teori pasca kolonialisme akan menjadi konsep utama untuk menganalisis film dengan konsep positif dan negatif terhadap negara jajahan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah sirkuit budaya oleh Hall untuk mendefinisikan kasus yang ditampilkan dalam film. Penulis menjelaskan secara singkat mengenai pasca-kolonialisme dan inferioritas, menganalisis data yang terdiri dari dialog dan adegan yang menunjukkan inferioritas dalam film Sing Street. Tujuan dari skripsi ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi inferioritas Irlandia yang ditampilkan dalam film Sing Street oleh John Carney pada tahun 2016. Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa efek kolonialisme mempengaruhi kesusastraan di dalam negara jajahan menjadi bersifat inferior. Inferioritas tersebut ditampikan dalam candaan yang mengandung isu tertentu, tindakan karakter dalam film, dan jalan cerita dalam film. Hasil dari kolonialisme yang dilakukan oleh Inggris, Irlandia memposisikan dirinya sebagai inferior terhadap Inggris. Hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa bentuk lain dari pasca-kolonialisme adalah mimikri yang dilakukan untuk meniru kelompok musik Inggris.
English Abstract
Colonization can happen in any country in order to extend the colonizer territory. This act not only happened by Western country to Eastern country, but the colonization can happen between Western countries. The example of colonialism between Western countries is colonization between England and Ireland. The colonizer acts as the superpower entity for the colonized and influences many aspect in the colonized country and one of them is literature. Result of colonization in literatures often shows that the colonizer is better in many aspect than the colonized. The purpose of this undergraduate thesis is to identify the inferiority of Ireland presented in Sing Street movie by John Carney year 2016. This research used the postcolonialism theory by Frantz Fanon focusing in inferiority aspect to analyze the object. There are some concepts of post-colonialism theory. The psychological effect in post-colonialism theory is the main concept to analyze the movie with positive and negative ways to the colonized country. The research method used is the circuit of culture by Hall to define the case presented in the movie. The writer explained briefly about post-colonialism and inferiority, analyzed the data consisting of dialogues and scenes representing the inferiority in Sing Street movie. The study shows that the effect of colonialism leading the colonized literature into inferiority. The inferiority itself reflected in the movie by wrapping the issue into jokes, character until the main plot of the movie. As the result of colonialism happened from England towards Ireland, Irish places itself inferior towards British. The result also shows the other form of post-colonialism that is mimicry towards the British band.
