Variasi Komunitas Plankton Di Daerah Penangkapan Ikan Tongkol (Auxis Richei) Di Perairan Prigi

Anindita, Difa Annisa (2018) Variasi Komunitas Plankton Di Daerah Penangkapan Ikan Tongkol (Auxis Richei) Di Perairan Prigi. Sarjana thesis, Universitas Brawijaya.

Abstract

English Abstract

Planktons are microorganisms that have abundant distribution in the tropical water region, including Indonesia. This was because tropical region had high sunlight intensity which led to high distribution of planktons. Primarily, planktons were divided into two major groups; phytoplankton and zooplankton. Phytoplankton acted as the primary producer, while zooplankton acted as the liaison between producers and first-tier consumers. As the primary producer, phytoplankton had a key role within the food chain. This research was aimed to determine the composition of marine plankton in the stomach of tongkol fish, to analyze the correlation of oceanographical parameters and abundance level of plankton in Prigi waters, and to analyze the correlation of abundance level of plankton in the waters and stomach of tongkol fish. The plankton samples were obtained from May-June 2018 in Prigi waters with different methods in each fishing location. The oceanographical parameters were also measured in each location, and the plankton samples were then obtained from the stomach of tongkol fish. The results showed that the most abundance phytoplankton that was found in the waters and stomach of tongkol fish was from class Bacillariophyceae, genus Chaetocheros, while the most abundance zooplankton was from class Copepod; genus Nauplius. The abundance of phytoplankton and zooplankton that were found in the waters from genus Chaetocheros had a total of 55.118.400 cell/m3 and from genus Nauplius had a total of 134 ind/L. Temperature, pH, and Chlorophyll-a had the highest impact on the abundance level of plankton in Prigi waters. Tongkol fish in Prigi waters favored phytoplankton more as their primary source of food.
