Peran Future Orientation Sebagai Moderator Pada Pengaruh Jenis Kelamin Teman Sebaya Terhadap Risk Taking Behavior

Ulfah, Nurul (2018) Peran Future Orientation Sebagai Moderator Pada Pengaruh Jenis Kelamin Teman Sebaya Terhadap Risk Taking Behavior. Sarjana thesis, Universitas Brawijaya.

Abstract

English Abstract

This study aimed to determine the role of future orientation as a moderator on the influence of sex peer towards risk taking behavior. This research used betweensubject experiment design with the participation of 58 junior high and high school students of Malang. Participants were divided into two experimental conditions, same sex and mixed sex conditions. In each experimental condition, the participants were put in a group of 2 fake participants and the participants themselves. The future orientation of participants was measured using the Stanford Time Perspective Inventory (STPI) and participant’s risk-taking behavior was measured using the Balloon Analogue Risk Task for Youth (BARTY). Participants were also given a degree of friendship to find out how close their relationships were with fake participants. Based on a preliminary analysis, it is known that degree of friendship is correlated with risk taking behavior (p <0,05).Test results of the hypothesis showed that gender peer was unable to affect risk taking behavior. The results of the test also provided evidence that future orientation does not fully play a role on the influence of sex peer towards risk taking behavior, as it was only significant in the future aspect (p <0,05) while not significant in the hedonistic present and fatalistic present aspect (p> 0,05).
