Abstract

Masyarakat sering menganggap bahwa biji nyamplung tidak berguna, akan tetapi dapat dimanfaatkan sebagi bahan bakar alternatif pengganti solar yaitu biodiesel. Tanaman nyamplung (calophyllum inophyllum) merupakan salah satu tanaman yang berpotensi sebagai sumber bahan bakar terbarukan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kinerja mesin diesel ketika menggunakan bahan bakar biodiesel nyamplung yang dicampur dengan solar murni dengan variasi rasio kompresi. Penelitian ini menggunakan bahan bakar campuran biodiesel nyamplung dengan solar murni dengan prosentase 10%, 20%, dan 30% dan menggunakan variasi rasio kompresi 15,5:1; 17,5:1; 19,5:1. Pengujian menggunakan mesin diesel empat langkah yang bermerk yanmar 70N. Penelitian diawali dengan pembuatan biodiesel nyamplung dari minyak nyamplung mentah dan pengujian karakteristik biodiesel nyamplung sebelum dilakukan pengujian pada mesin diesel. Kemudian dilakukan pengujian kinerja pada putaran 1600 rpm sampai 2400 rpm dengan interval 200 rpm dan pembebanan sebesar 1 kg/cm2. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai torsi, daya, dan efisiensi termal untuk B10, B20, B30 mengalami kenaikan seiring penambahan rasio kompresi, sedangkan nilai SFCe mengalami penurunan seiring bertambahnya rasio kompresi pada mesin diesel dikarenakan pada rasio kompresi yang tinggi pembakaran yang terjadi semakin sempurna.

English Abstract

People often assume that nyamplung seed is not useful but can be used as an alternative fuel substitute diesel is biodiesel. Nyamplung plant (calophyllum inophyllum) is one of the plants that has potential as a source of renewable fuels. The purpose of this research is to know the performance of diesel engine when using nyamplung biodiesel fuel mixed with pure diesel with variation of compression ratio. This research uses nyamplung biodiesel fuel mixture with pure diesel with percentage of 10%, 20%, and 30% and using variation of compression ratio 15,5: 1; 17.5: 1; 19.5: 1. Testing using a four-step diesel engine branded yanmar 70N. The research begins with making nyamplung biodiesel from crude nyamplung oil and testing nyamplung biodiesel characteristic before testing on diesel engine. Then performed performance testing at 1600 rpm rotation until 2400 rpm with interval 200rpm and loading of 1 kg/cm2. The result showed that torque, power, and thermal efficiency for B10, B20, B30 increased with the addition of compression ratio, while the SFCe value decreased with increasing of compression ratio on diesel engine due to the high compression ratio of combustion that occurs more perfect
