Abstract

English Abstract

Science and technology continue to innovate to overcome the problems of cooling systems that often arise from the heat generated by the engine and how to improve the cooling function of the machine. The latter continues to evolve in the problem of cooling or heat transfer, particularly in porous media, where porous media systems provide heat transfer solutions with porous media that increase heat transfer. In this study, we look at how the effect of porosity variation on porous media in heat transfer in engine cooling system. Porosity variations of 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, 30%, heat transfer with porous media can be applied to the engine cooling system with the help of simulation, due to the complexity of the testing process it is approached using FEA simulation. The result obtained from the effect of porosity on the temperature distribution is the greater the porosity value the greater the temperature distribution in each monitor column. the greater the porosity the thermal conductivity value is low thereby the rate of heat transfer is also low. Then the greater the porosity the value of the heat transfer coefficient will be lower. the value of Rayleigh Number (Ra) and Nusselt Number (Nu) are interconnected whereby the greater the value of Ra the greater the value of Nu in the process of temperature distribution on Porous media.
