Abstract

Candida albicans adalah mikroorganisme opportunistik yang dapat menyebabkan mucocutaneous dan systemic candidiasis. Infeksi oleh Candida sebanyak 72% dari infeksi jamur nosokomial dan 25% hingga 50% candidemia nosokomial di critical care units. Dengan rasio mortalitas sebesar 30-40%. Terapi Candida albicans saat ini adalah menggunakan fluconazole sebagai terapi awal. Bawang merah mengandung ascalin, diallyl sulfide, allicin, polyphenol yang berperan sebagai anti jamur. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektifitas perasan bawang merah dan fluconazole sebagai antifungi terhadap Candida albicans secara in vitro. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode dilusi tabung mengamati nilai KHM dan KBM. Hasilnya diketahui bahwa perasan bawang merah mempunyai KHM sebesar 48% dan KBM sebesar 75%. Fluconazole memiliki KHM sebesar 60μg/ml sedangkan KBM tidak teramati karena melalui uji pendahuluan diketahui Candida albicans mengalami resisten terhadap Fluconazole. Dari hasil Uji korelasi menunjukkan semakin meningkatnya konsentrasi perasan bawang merah, maka jumlah koloni Candida albicans semakin menurun, dengan kekuatan hubungan sangat kuat (R=-0,988, p=0.000). Kesimpulan pada penelitian ini adalah perasan bawang merah secara in vitro mempunyai potensi sebagai antifungal terhadap Candida albicans dan Candida albicans mengalami resistensi terhadap Fluconazole.

English Abstract

Candida albicans is an opportunistic microorganism that caused mucocutaneous and systemic candidiasis. Candida accounts for approximately more than 72% of all nosocomial fungal infections, and 25% to 50% of nosocomial candidemia occurs in critical care units. Mortality rates associated with these infections is in the range of 30-40%. Fluconazole has become the initial therapy. Shallot contains ascalin, diallyl sulfide, allicin, polyphenol as main antifungal agent. This study was aimed to compare the potential effect of the aquous extract of shallot and fluconazole as an antifungal agent against Candida albicans use tube dilution method. The result showed that the minimal inhibition concentration (MIC) from aquous extract of shallot is 48% and the minimal fungicidal concentration (MFC) is 75%. MIC of fluconazole is 60μg/ml whereas MFC can not be determined because from exploration study known that Candida albicans resistant to fluconazole. Based on the data analysis, correlation test showed that the higher concentration of the extract the lower number of Candida albicans colony growth, with the strength of relationship was very strong (R=-0,988, p=0.000). The conclusion of this study was that aquous extract of shallot has potency as an antimicrobial againts Candida albicans in vitro and Candida albicans resistant to fluconazole.
