Abstract
Penelitian degradasi zat warna metilen biru menggunakan fotokatalis ZnO-zeolit dibawah sinar UV telah dilakukan. Penelitian ini dilakukan uji fotokatalitik pengaruh konsentrasi metilen biru, pH metilen biru dan lama penyinaran. Tujuannya yaitu untuk mengetahui pengaruh konsentrasi dan pH metilen biru terhadap konstanta laju degradasi metilen biru menggunakan fotokatalis ZnO-zeolit dibawah radiasi ultraviolet serta mengetahui pengaruh lama penyinaran terhadap penurunan konsentrasi metilen biru. Penelitian ini menggunakan konsentrasi metilen biru sebanyak 10, 20, 30, 40 dan 50 mg/L, pH larutan yaitu 3, 5, 7, 9 dan 11 dan lama penyinaran yaitu 10, 20, 30, 40, dan 50 menit. Prosentase degradasi metilen biru diukur menggunakan instrumen spektronik 20. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penurunan konsentrasi optimum metilen biru adalah 20 mg/L dan pH optimum pada pH 9 dengan konstanta laju 0,0112 menit-1. Konsentrasi metilen biru terus menurun hingga lama penyinaran 50 menit. Variasi konsentrasi menunjukkan bahwa semakin besar konsentrasi metilen biru yang digunakan maka konstanta laju degradasi metilen biru semakin menurun. Sedangkan ada pH basa, kemampuan aktivitas fotokatalis semakin meningkat
English Abstract
A research about degradation of methylene blue dye using photocatalyst ZnO-zeolite under UV light has been done. This research tested the photocatalytic effect of the concentration of methylene blue, pH of methylene blue and irradiation time. The goal was to determined the effect of concentration and pH of methylene blue on the rate constants of methylene blue degradation using ZnOzeolite photocatalyst under ultraviolet radiation and determined the effect of irradiation time on decreasing concentration of methylene blue. This research using variation concentrations of methylene blue are 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 mg/L, variation of pH are 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11 and irradiation time 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 minutes. Percentage degradation of methylene blue was measured using an instrument spektronik 20. The results showed that the optimum reduction concentration of methylene blue at 20 mg/L and optimum pH at pH 9 with constant rate 0,0112 minute-1. The concentration of methylene blue continued to decrease until irradiation time 50 minutes. The variation concentration showed that the higher concentration of methylene blue that used, the degradation activity of methylene blue was decrease. While, at alkaline pH the activity of photocatalytic was increase.
