Abstract

Telah dilakukan kajian adsorpsi zat warna dengan tujuan menentukan pH optimum dan konsentrasi optimum larutan zat warna terhadap adsorpsi rhodamin B pada adsorben karbon mesopori. Selain itu juga dibandingkan nilai adsorpsi karbon mesopori dengan karbon aktif perdagangan. Uji adsorpsi dilakukan pada variasi pH awal 1-13, konsentrasi rhodamin B 25-55 ppm, dengan 0,1 gram karbon dalam 25 mL larutan rhodamin B, lama pengocokan selama 4 jam, kecepatan pengocokan sebesar 125 rpm pada temperatur kamar. Konsentrasi sisa rhodamin B setelah adsorpsi ditentukan dengan menggunakan metode spektrofotometri dan nilai adsorpsi dievaluasi berdasarkan data konsentrasi rhodamin B sebelum dan setelah proses adsorpsi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa baik pH awal maupun konsentrasi larutan berpengaruh sangat nyata (P<0,01) terhadap adsorpsi rhodamin B. Kondisi optimum dicapai pada pH awal 9 dan konsentrasi larutan 40 ppm dengan nilai adsorpsi sebesar 90,53 ± 1,63 %. Nilai % adsorpsi karbon mesopori 0,9 kali dari karbon aktif perdagangan.

English Abstract

Adsorption of dyes was studied in purpose to determine the optimum of pH solution and concentration to rhodamine B adsorption on mesoporous carbon adsorbent. Besides that, the adsorption value of the carbon mesoporous was compared to commercial activated carbon. The adsorption was conducted at various pH of 1-13 and various rhodamine B concentration of 25-55 ppm, 0,1 gram carbon in 25 mL rhodamine B solution, shaking period 4 hours and shaking rate 125 rpm. The remained rhodamine B concentration was determined with spectrophotometry and adsorption value was based on rhodamine B concentration before and after adsorption process. Result of research showed that adsorption of rhodamine B was influenced (P<0,01) by both pH and rhodamine B concentration. The optimum condition was reached at the pH of 9 and the rhodamine B concentration of 40 ppm with the percent adsorption value of 90.53 ± 1.63%. The adsorption value of carbon mesoporous is 0.9 times compared to the one of the commercial activated carbon.
