Abstract

Indonesia merupakan negara dengan jumlah penduduk terbesar keempat di dunia dengan laju pertumbuhan penduduk 1,49% per tahun. Semakin banyaknya penduduk maka kebutuhan akan air bersih juga meningkat. Air limbah MCK juga mengakibatkan masalah pencemaran bagi lingkungan karena kebanyakan air limbah MCK langsung dibuang ke badan sungai tanpa melalui pengolahan terlebih dahulu. Oleh karena itu, pada penelitian ini akan dilakukan pengolahan air limbah MCK dengan menggunakan IPAL MCK berbasis biofilm mikroalga skala rumah tangga. IPAL ini terdiri dari 5 bak yaitu bak sedimentasi, bak biofilm, bak mikroalga, bak filtrasi dan storage. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui efektifitas pengolahan air limbah MCK berbasis biofilm mikroalga dalam menurunkan kadar COD,TSS, pH, dan fosfat air limbah MCK dan untuk mengetahui kualitas air limbah MCK dengan parameter COD, TSS, pH dan fosfat dibandingkan dengan baku mutu air kelas III berdasarkan PP No. 82 Tahun 2001. Analisis terhadap hasil uji dilakukan secara eksperimental murni. Dan dari hasil uji sampel air limbah yang telah diolah, IPAL ini mampu menurunkan kadar COD sebesar 47,24%, kadar TSS sebesar 64,73% dan PO4-P sebesar 34,94%. Untuk parameter pH tidak terlihat perubahannya. Dan kualitas air limbah MCK yang telah diolah sudah memenuhi baku mutu air kelas III.

English Abstract

Indonesia is the country with the fourth largest population in the world. The growth rate is 1.49% per year. In the same time,the increasing number of population is mean the need for clean water also increased. Domestic wastewater is one of the cause of pollution problems for the environment because most of domestic wastewater directly discharged into river without any treatment before. Therefor, this research will use domestic wastewater treatment with domestic wastewater treatment using biofilm-microalgae on household scale. The WWTP consists of five reactors, which is the sedimentation reactor, biofilm reactor, microalgae reactor, filtration reactor and storage reactor. The purpose of this research is to determine the effectiveness of domestic wastewater treatment based on biofilm microalgae to reduce the levels of COD, TSS, pH, and phosphate from sewage and to determine the quality of domestic wastewater with COD, TSS, pH and phosphates parameters compared with class III water quality standards under government regulations number 82, 2001. The analysis on this research use purely experimental. The results shown that domestic WWTP is able to reduce 47.24% of COD levels, 64.73% of TSS levels and 34.94% of PO4-P levels. For pH parameters do not show the changes. Therefore the quality of domestic wastewater after treatment appropriate with class III water quality standard.
