Abstract

Penelitian pretreatment pada proses pembuatan bioetanol dari bahan eceng gondok telah dilakukan. Eceng gondok sebagai bahan perlakuan dipisahkan dari akarnya, dipotong-potong menjadi ukuran ± 3cm dan diblender sehingga menjadi bubur eceng gondok. Bubur eceng gondok ditimbang sebanyak 20 gram dan dicampur dengan 200 ml NaOH konsentarasi 1 molar dan 2 molar. Selanjuntnya eceng gondok dipretreatment menggunakan microwave orolux daya 700 watt selama 10,15,20,25 dan 30 menit. Eceng gondok sebelum dan setelah dilakukan proses pretreatment di uji kandungan selulosa, hemiselulosa dan lignin menggunakan metode Chesson. Perlakuan terbaik selanjutnya dilakukan analisa struktur permukaan menggunajan uji SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy).Data hasil penelitian selanjutnya di analisa dengan metode Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL). Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa perlakuan terbaik dengan peningkatan selulosa tertinggi dan penurunan hemiselilosa dan lignin terendah yaitu pada perlakuan pretreatment menggunakan konsentrasi NaOH 2 molar selama 30 menit. Selulosa meningkat dari 56% menjadi 68.27%, hemiselulosa turun dari 24.77% menjadi 6.58% dan lignin turun dari 12.01% menjadi 11.50%. Kandungan lignin pada bahan eceng gondok masih tergolong tinggi. English Abstract

Research on pretreatment process for bioethanol production from water hyacinth material has been conducted. Water hyacinth as a treatment material is separated from the roots, cut into ± 3cm size and blended to be a slurry water hyacinth. Slurry water Hyacinth weighed as much as 20 grams and mixed with 200 ml of NaOH concentration 1 molar and 2 molar. Then slurry water hyacinth with NaOH conduct pretreatment process using 700 watts power of microwave orolux for 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 minutes. Water hyacinth before and after the pretreatment process conducted in the analysis contains of cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin using Chesson method. The best treatment is conducted analysis of the surface structure using SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy). The data were further analyzed by Completely randomized design (CRD) method. The results showed that the best treatment with the highest increase of cellulose and highest decrease of lignin and hemiselilosa is on treatment using 2 molar concentration of NaOH for 30 minutes. Cellulose increased from 56 % to 68.27 %, hemicellulose down from 24.77 % into 6.58 % and lignin down from 12:01 % to 11:50 %. Lignin content in water hyacinth material is st ill relatively high. This is presumably because the pretreatment time 30 minutes using the microwave is still not enough to break down the lignin content of water hyacinth material.
