Abstract
Perpustakaan Universitas Brawijaya adalah satu dari organisasi di universitas Brawijaya yang memiliki salah satu fungsi yaitu sebagai tempat untuk mendapatkan informasi sesuai kebutuhan pembaca melalui koleksi buku yang disediakan. Beberapa sumber buku yang terdapat pada perpustakaan UB salah satunya adalah berasal dari hasil kerjasama dengan penerbit buku. Selain buku dalam bentuk fisik (buku konvensional), hasil kerjasama dengan penerbit juga terdapat buku dalam bentuk elektronik (buku elektronik atau ebook). Berdasarkan hasil wawancara dengan pihak IT perpustakaan Universitas Brawijaya, ebook-ebook yang dimiliki perpustakaan Universitas Brawijaya nantinya akan dipinjamkan kepada mahasiswa-mahasiswa UB. Hanya saja, perpustakaan Universitas Brawijaya belum memiliki sistem yang dapat digunakan oleh mahasiswa untuk melakukan peminjaman ebook tersebut. Untuk mengatasi hal tersebut diperlukan suatu sistem yang dapat melakukan peminjaman ebook. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah sebuah sistem yang dapat melakukan peminjaman terhadap koleksi ebook yang dimiliki Perpustakaan Universitas Brawijaya. Sistem ini dibangun dengan menerapkan arsitektur multi-tier dimana sisi user interface, sisi logika sistem, dan sisi basis data diletakkan pada lokasi yang terpisah. Sistem ini pada penggunaanya dioperasikan pada smartphone android.
English Abstract
Brawijaya University Library is one of the organization at Brawijaya University that has function which one of them as a place to get information according to the needs of readers through a collection of book provided. One of source of books at Brawijaya University Library is derived from the result of cooperation with the publisher. One of result from cooperation with publisher apart books on physic form is book on electronic form (ebook). Based on result of interviews with IT division from Brawijaya University Library is the ebooks that owned by Brawijaya University Library would be then loaned to the students of Brawijaya University. Unfortunately, Brawijaya University Library don’t have a system that can be used by students to borrow the ebooks. To overcome this problem, Brawijaya University Library need a system that can perform ebook borrowing. The result from this study is a system that can borrow the collections of ebook that owned by Brawijaya University Library. The system is build by applying a multi-tier architecture where the user interface, system logic, and the database is placed in a separate location. This system on its use is operated on android smartphone.
