Abstract

Ulat daun Plutella xylostella L. merupakan hama utama yang merusak tanaman Brassicaceae, terutama kubis, sawi, kembang kol, pakcoy, selada, dan caisim di Indonesia. Gejala serangan yang ditimbulkan oleh hama ini yaitu daun berlubang-lubang kecil, jika terjadi serangan berat yang tersisa hanya tulangtulang daunnya saja. Serangan berat yang ditimbulkan oleh hama ini dapat menyebabkan daun menjadi habis termakan sehingga dapat menurunkan produksi sampai mematikan tanaman. Salah satu cara pengendalian hama yang aman bagi lingkungan yaitu menggunakan pestisida nabati. Tanaman bawang putih Allium sativum merupakan salah satu tumbuhan penghasil pestisida alami karena mengandung senyawa-senyawa metabolik sekunder yang dapat mengendalikan hama. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh ekstrak bawang putih terhadap P. xylostella dengan konsentrasi yang berbeda. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan April sampai Agustus 2018 di Laboratorium Hama Tumbuhan Sub Laboratorium Toksikologi dan Laboratorium Hama 2, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Brawijaya, Malang. Penelitian dilakukan menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok (RAK) dengan 5 perlakuan yaitu konsentrasi 0 ppm, 8.000 ppm, 12.000 ppm, 16.000 ppm, dan 20.000 ppm yang diulang sebanyak 4 kali. Variabel pengamatan meliputi mortalitas larva, penurunan aktivitas makan larva, dan keberhasilan pupa menjadi imago. Data kemudian dianalisis dengan menggunakan ANOVA (Analysis of Variance) pada taraf kesalahan 5% menggunakan Microsoft Excel dan data persentase mortalitas larva dianalisis menggunakan analisis probit Program Hsin Chi (1997). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak bawang putih dengan konsentrasi yang berbeda berpengaruh nyata terhadap mortalitas larva, penurunan aktivitas makan larva, dan keberhasilan pupa menjadi imago. Konsentrasi ekstrak bawang putih 20.000 ppm merupakan konsentrasi yang paling efektif dibandingkan dengan konsentrasi lainnya dalam mengendalian P. xylostella di laboratorium dengan nilai mortalitas 70%. Namun secara keseluruhan, semakin tinggi konsentrasi ekstrak bawang putih yang diberikan maka semakin tinggi tingkat mortalitasnya.

English Abstract

Plutella xylostella L. is the main pest that destroys Brassicaceae plants, especially cabbage, mustard greens, cauliflower, pakcoy, lettuce, and caisim in Indonesia. Symptoms that caused by this pest are small holes for few attack and then can cause the leaves run out even cause decrease production. One of pest control that are safe for the environment is by using natural pesticides. Garlic plant Allium sativum is one of the natural pesticide because it contains secondary metabolic compounds that can control pests. This research aimed to examine the effect of garlic extract on P. xylostella with different concentrations. The research was conducted in April to August 2018 at the Toxicology Laboratory and Pest Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Brawijaya University, Malang. The research was conducted by using a randomized block design with 5 treatments i.e. 0 ppm, 8,000 ppm, 12,000 ppm, 16,000 ppm, and 20,000 ppm concentrations which were repeated 4 times. Observation variables included larval mortality, decreased feeding activity of larvae, and success of pupae into imago. The data analyzed by using ANOVA (Analysis of Variance) with 5% error level on Microsoft Excel and percentage of larval mortality data were analyzed by using the probit analysis Hsin Chi Program 1997. Based on the result of this research, garlic extract with different concentrations affected larval mortality significantly, decreased larval feeding activity, and the potentiality of pupa became imago. The most effective concentration in controlling P. xylostella was 20.000 ppm on laboratory scale with 70% mortality value. But overall, the higher the concentration of garlic extract given, the higher was the mortality rate.
