Abstract
Penelitian dilaksanakan di peternakan Green Farm Indonesia merupakan salah satu peternakan domba Merino yang berada di kota Blitar, yang berlokasi di Jl. Ciliwung 73 Blitar yang dimulai pada tanggal 6 Juli sampai 6 Agustus 2014. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui perbedaan kuantitas wol domba Merino pada berbagai umur di Green Farm Indonesia kota Blitar. Manfaat untuk informasi tentang perbedaan kuantitas wol domba Merino dari umur, sehingga dapat diketahui kuantitas yang terbaik yang bisa untuk pengolahan selanjutnya. Materi yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah sebanyak 18 ekor domba Merino jenis jantan dan betina (PI0, PI1, dan PI2). Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah observasi dengan 3 perlakuan dan 3 ulangan. Analisa data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dilanjutkan Uji Jarak Berganda Duncan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perbedaan umur menunjukkan berpengaruh (P<0,05) terhadap panjang wol dan berpengaruh (P<0,05) terhadap ketapatan wol. Rataan yang diperoleh untuk panjang wol pada umur PI2, PI1, dan PI0 secara berurutan 1,19±0,014, 1,12±0,03, dan 1,08±0,023 (mm), sedangkan untuk kerapatan wol pada umur PI2, PI1, dan PI0 secara berurutan 4051,50±179,816, 3744,17±108,573, dan 3380,17±105,729 (serat/cm²). Kesimpulan bahwa perbedaan kuantitas berdasarkan panjang dan kerapatan wol, dengan hasil umur PI2 mempunyai kuantitas paling baik dibandingkan dengan umur PI1 dan PI0. Saran dari penelitian ini adalah perlu dilakukan penelitian yang lebih lanjut pada kuantitas wol domba Merino pada berbagai umur dengan menggunakan uji kuantitas lain parameter-parameter seperti diameter, kesehatan, pintalan, kondisi, warna, kelenturan, kelembutan, kelekatan, dan daya serap air
English Abstract
This research was conducted at Green Farm which located in street Ciliwung 73 Blitar. this research was carried out a August –September 2014. The purpose of this study was to determine the difference in quality of wol Merino sheep in various age at Green Farm Indonesia Blitar. The material used in this study were Merino sheep type males and females aged 1-2 years as many as 18 shep. The method used in this research was 3 experimental and 3 replications. Analisis of data in this research used trials f. The result of this research showed that age higly significanly diffrene effect (P<0,05) toward the length of wol and significanly diffrene effect (P<0,05) on the density of wool. For the averange length of wool obtained at age PI2, PI1, and PI0 sequentially 1.19±0.04, 1.12±0.03, and 1.08± 0.023 (mm), while for the density of wool at the age of PI2, PI1 and PI0 sequentially 4051.50± 179.816, 3744.17±180.573, and 3380.17±105.729 (fiber/cm²). Based on the research it can be concluded that the difference of quality based on the length of wool and density of wool, with the results of age PI2 have better quality than the age of PI1 and PI0. The suggestion from this study is that more research needs to be done further on the quality of wol Merino sheep in various age by using quality testing such as diameter, healt, spun, condition, color, flexibility, softness, stickness and uneven water absorption.
