Sarjana thesis, Universitas Brawijaya.

Abstract

English Abstract

This research was conducted on July 8th until August 6th 2011 from dairy farm of GKSI Pasuruan Regency, and laboratory of dairy science in Animal Husbandry Faculty, Brawijaya University. This research aims to improve protein milk quality and milk production of dairy cow with given teat dipping used boiled of Piper bettle L. The result of this research could be used to give information about usefully of Piper bettle L as alternative subtance for teat dipping. The material of this research is milk from the udder of 30 Friesian Holstein (FH) who entered 4-6 month of lactation. Collection milk on 120 teat cistern which grouped become three group, they are 40 teat cistern which teat dipping using chemical antiseptic and the others teat dipping using 20% and 30% piper bettle L. The method that use is experiment, with testing conducted Whiteside Test, then data that we got, will be descriptif analyzed. While measurement for milk production and protein content analyzed by descriptive. The result of this research show that the effect of treatment is not significant different on milk production and protein content, but could decrease sub clinical mastitis rate in teat dipping used boiled of Piper bettle L 20% and 30%. It was suggested that decoction of Piper bettle L could be use as alternative antiseptic for teat dipping.
