English Abstract
This study was carried out in Gabungan Koperasi Susu Indonesia (GKSI) dairy cattle farm, Sawiran Village, Purwodadi District, Pasuruan Regency and at the Laboratory of Dairy Science, Animal Husbandry Faculty Brawijaya University, Malang since August until September, 2006. The objective of this study was to found out the effects of mastitis on Total Solid of milk and Solid Non Fat Friesian Holstein dairy cattle. The result of this study was expected to be able to help farmers as an information sources on improvement effort of quantity and quality of milk through mastitis prevention. The subject of this study were milk samples which were taken from 30 lactating FH dairy cows at the 2nd – 3rd lactation months and the 2nd – 3rd lactation stages. The method of this study was observation study. CMT test was performed after one or two spouts of milk samples. Analysis of fat content and specific gravity was performed at the Laboratory of Dairy Science. Analysis of TS and SNF based on Fleschman method. The effects of mastitis on milk’s TS and SNF was analysed with correlation and simple linear regression. The result showed that there was significant effects of mastitis on Total Solid of milk (P < 0.05) about 32.1 % with the strength of the linier relationship – 0.56. While there was significant effects of mastitis on Solid Non Fat of milk (P < 0.05) about 16.9 % with the strength of the linier relationship – 0.41. It is suggesting that is necessary to take a regular examination of milk’s quality and health of cows on mastitis in order to increase quantity and quality production of milk.
