Abstract
Edamame, yang juga dikenal sebagai kedelai Jepang, dapat tumbuh baik pada tanah subur dan drainsase yang baik. Edamame tidak dapat tumbuh dengan baik jika tingkat bahan organik tanah rendah, atau bahkan sangat rendah. Kendala tersebut dapat diatasi dengan pemberian bahan organik melalui aplikasi pupuk organik. Tujuan dari penelitian ini ialah mempelajari jenis dan dosis pupuk organik yang dapat menghasilkan pertumbuhan dan hasil yang baik pada tanaman edamame. Hipotesis yang diajukan ialah perlakuan pupuk kandang sapi menghasilkan pertumbuhan dan hasil yang baik karena memiliki kandungan hara yang banyak, tidak mudah termineralisasi, dan dapat mendukung kesuburan tanah. Penelitian telah dilaksanakan pada bulan Agustus – Oktober 2015, di lahan PT. Mitratani Dua Tujuh, Jl. Brawijaya No. 83, Mangli, Kabupaten Jember, Jawa Timur, 68136. Alat yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini ialah cangkul, tugal, penggaris, timbangan analitik, alat tulis, tali rafia, meteran, soil analyzer, dan kamera. Sedangkan bahan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini ialah benih edamame varietas SPM1, pupuk kandang sapi dan kompos. Metode yang digunakan dalam rancangan ini adalah Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) non-faktorial yang terdiri dari 7 perlakuan dan 3 ulangan. Perlakuan tersebut terdiri dari: (P0) tanpa pupuk organik (kontrol), (P1) pupuk kandang sapi 8 ton ha-1, (P2) pupuk kandang sapi 16 ton ha-1, (P3) pupuk kandang sapi 24 ton ha-1, (P4) kompos 8 ton ha-1, (P5) kompos 16 ton ha-1 dan (P6) kompos 24 ton ha-1. Pengamatan dilakukan dengan cara non-destruktif dan destruktif. Pengamatan non-destuktif meliputi tinggi tanaman dan jumlah daun yang dilakukan setelah tanaman berumur 14 hari setelah tanam dengan interval pengamatan 14 hari sekali (14, 28, 42, dan 56 hst). Sedangkan pengamatan destruktif dilakukan pada saat tanaman berumur 70 hst atau panen yang meliputi jumlah polong dan bobot segar polong. Data pengamatan yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan menggunakan analisis ragam (F hitung) dengan taraf kesalahan 5%. Apabila terdapat beda nyata antar perlakuan dilakukan uji Beda Nyata Terkecil (BNT) dengan taraf kesalahan 5 %. Hasil pengamatan non-destruktif menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan pupuk organik mempengaruhi pertumbuhan tanaman edamame, dalam hal ini tinggi tanaman dan jumlah daun. Pada pengamatan panen, perlakuan pupuk organik tidak mempengaruhi jumlah polong sama sekali, dan mempengaruhi bobot segar polong hanya pada polong berisi biji 2 sempurna, polong berisi biji tidak sempurna, dan polong total dari semua jenis isi. Bahan organik dimineralisasi menjadi hara tersedia bagi tanaman saat fase pertumbuhan, dan tidak pada fase setelah pertumbuhan.
English Abstract
Edamame, also known as Japanese soybean, grows on well-drained and fertile soil. It may not grow well when the soil organic matter level is low, or even very low. That obstacle can be overcome by adding organic matter via organic fertilization. The objective of the research was to study the organic fertilizer type and dose which could result in the good growth and yield of edamame. It was hypothesized that the treatment of cow manure resulted in the good growth and yield because it contained higher amount of nutrients, was not easily mineralized, and was able to promote soil fertility. The research was conducted from August to October 2015, in the crop field of Mitratani 27 Ltd. on Jl. Brawijaya No. 83, Mangli, Jember, East Java, which postal code is 68136. The tools used in the research were hoe, hole-making wood, ruler, analytical scale, stationery, raffia, meter, soil analyzer, and camera. The materials used were the edamame seeds of SPM1 variety, cow manure and compost. The research used the block randomized design with non-factorial treatments, consisting of 7 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments were P0 (no organic fertilizer, as control), P1 (8 tons ha-1 cow manure), P2 (16 tons ha-1 cow manure), P3 (24 tons ha-1 cow manure), P4 (8 tons ha-1 compost), P5 (16 tons ha-1 compost) and P6 (24 tons ha-1 compost). There were non-destructive and destructive (harvest) observations. The non-destructive observation included the plant height and leaf number which was conducted 14 days after planting with the interval being once 14 days (14, 28, 42 and 56 days after planting). The destructive (harvest) observation was conducted 70 days after planting, including pod number and pod fresh weight. The observation data were analyzed using the analysis of variance at the error level of 5%. Whenever there is a significant difference among treatments, it continues with the Least Significant Difference (LSD) at the error level of 5%. The non-destructive observation results showed that organic fertilizers affected the edamame growth, the plant height and leaf number to be exact. Meanwhile, the destructive (harvest) ones showed that they did not affect the pod number at all, and affected the pod fresh weight only on pods with 2 perfectly formed seeds, pods with all imperfectly formed seeds, and pods in total of all kinds of seed forms. Organic matter was mineralized (converted to plant-available nutrients) during the growth phase, and not post-growth one.
