Abstract

Pengoptimalan lahan kering di Indonesia mampu berkontribusi dalam meningkatkan pembangunan pertanian. Tercatat, Indonesia memiliki luasan total lahan kering untuk pertanian sekitar 64,5 juta ha, yang terbagi dalam lahan kering tanaman semusim sebesar 24,8 juta ha dan lahan kering tanaman tahunan sebesar 39,7 juta ha. Dilihat dari luasannya sangat berpotensi dalam meningkatkan pembangunan pertanian. Kondisi pengembangan pertanian di lahan kering dihadapi oleh permasalahan-permasalahan, antara lain penurunan produktivitas tanah (degradasi) akibat penurunan bahan organik, solum tanah yang dangkal dan tingkat erosi telah lanjut. Salah satu upaya menangani permasalahan tersebut dengan menggunakan penutup tanah yaitu biogeotekstil yang dikombinasikan dengan residu cover crop dan pengolahan tanah. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menentukan kombinasi terbaik antara biogeotekstil, beberapa residu cover crop dan macam pengolahan tanah dalam menekan limpasan permukaan, erosi tanah dan meningkatkan produksi jagung (Zea mays L.). Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Desember 2017 hingga bulan April 2018 di Kebun Percobaan Agrotechnopark Universitas Brawijaya (ATP UB) Jatikerto Kabupaten Malang, Jawa Timur. Penelitian dilakukan dengan Rancangan Acak Kelempok Faktorial (RAKF) tiga faktor. Faktor pertama yaitu penutup tanah (biogeotekstil dan tanpa biogeotekstil), faktor kedua yaitu residu cover crop (tunggak, benguk, gude, orok-orok, dan kontrol) dan faktor ketiga pengolahan tanah (pengolahan konvensional dan tanpa olah tanah). Perlakuan dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 20 perlakuan dengan 3 ulangan. Parameter yang diamati limpasan permukaan, erosi tanah dan produksi tanaman jagung. Analisis data menggunakan aplikasi Genstat 18th Edition kemudian dilakukan uji lanjut dengan DMRT taraf 5% selanjutnya diuji korelasi dan regresi. Hasil penelitian meunjukkan bahwa ada interaksi nyata antara biogeotekstil, beberapa residu cover crop dan pengolahan tanah terhadap produksi tanaman jagung, limpasan permukaan dan erosi tanah. Pemberian biogeotekstil dengan residu tunggak dan tanpa olah tanah (BTN) dapat meningkatkan hasil panen jagung 3 t ha-1 dibandingkan tanpa penggunaan biogeotekstil, tanpa residu cover crop dan pengolahan konvensional (KKK) dengan peningkatan sebesar 39,5%. Pemberian biogeotekstil dan tanpa olah tanah dapat menekan limpasan permukaan dengan rerata 68% dibandingkan tanpa pemberian biogeotekstil dan pengolahan konvensional. Pemberian biogeotekstil dan tanpa olah tanah dapat menekan erosi tanah dengan rerata 94,4% dibandingkan tanpa pemberian biogeotekstil dan pengolahan konvensional.

English Abstract

Optimalization of dry land in Indonesia can contribute to improve agricultural development. Noted, the total area of dryland for agriculture in Indonesia is about 64,5 million ha, divided into dryland for short term crop (24,8 million ha) and annual crop (39,7 million ha). It is potential to increase the development of agriculture. Agricultural development in dryland is facing some problems which is soil degradation due to decreasing of soil organic matters, shallow depths, and sustain soil erosion. One of methods to tackle this problems is application of biogeotextile with cover crop’s residues and soil tillage. The purpose of this study was to determine the best combination between biogeotextile, some of cover crop’s residues, and various kinds of soil tillage in decrease runoff, soil erosion, and to increase the yield of Maize’s (Zea mays L.). This study was carried out on December 2017 until April 2018 in Agrotechopark’s Experimental Garden Brawijaya University (ATP UB), Jatikerto, Malang Regency, East Java. The study was conducted with Factorial Randomized Design (RAKF) three factors. The first factor is the cover crop (with biogeotextile and without biogeotextile), the second factor is cover crop’s residues (tunggak, benguk, gude, orok-orok, and control), and the third factor is soil tillage (conventional and no tillage). The treatment in this study was 20 with 3 repetition. The parameter that observed was runoff, soil erosion, and the yield of maize. This study used Genstat 18th Edition with DMRT standard of quality 5% for data analysis then testes for correlation and regression. Results showed that interaction between biogeotextile, some of cover crop’s residues and soil tillage to the yield of maize, runoff and soil erosion is significant. Application of biogeotextile with tunggak residues and no tillage (BTN) is more increase the yield of maize 3 t ha-1 than application without biogeotextile, without cover crop, and conventional tillage (KKK) with an increase of 39,5%. Application of biogeotextile with no tillage can decreased runoff with average 68% than application of biogeotextile with conventional tillage. Application of biogeotextile with no tillage can decreased soil erosion with average 94,4% than application of biogeotextile with conventional tillage.
