Abstract

Alga cokelat Sargassum cristaefolium pernah dimanfaatkan oleh penduduk Talanggo, Sumenep, Madura untuk diolah menjadi teh. Teh alga cokelat memiliki kandungan bioaktif polifenol yang dapat berfungsi sebagai antioksidan. Penelitian ini bersifat eksploratif deskriptif. Sampel yang digunakan terdiri dari S.Cristaefolium segar, kering (setelah dikeringkan dengan pengeringan matahari selama 2 hari), basa kering (setelah direndam dalam larutan kapur (Ca(OH) 2 ), pH 11, 6 jam), dan teh seduh (sampel basa kering diseduh dengan aquadest). Ekstraksi sampel bioaktif dengan pelarut etil asetat. Aktivitas antioksidan diuji dengan metode DPPH dan polifenol diuji dengan pereaksi Folin-Ciocalteau. Nilai aktivitas antioksidan dinyatakan dengan IC 50 . Hasil IC 50 pada S.cristaefolium yaitu segar sebesar (109.1789 ± 1.059 mg/L), kering (123.2862 ± 4.333 mg/L), basa kering (124.5619 ± 3.10 mg/L), dan teh seduh (126.5971 ± 2954 mg/L). Kadar polifenol ekstrak S.cristaefolium segar sebesar (0.0294 ± 0.0112 mg GAE/L ), kering (0.0201 ±2.954 mg GAE/L), basa kering (0.0085 ± 0.4958 mg GAE/L), dan teh seduh (0.0037 ± 0.0006 mg GAE/L). Nilai aktivitas antioksidan dan kandungan polifenol pada S.cristaefolium memiliki hasil yang berkolerasi positif.

English Abstract

Brown seaweed Sargassum cristaefolium has been utilised by Talanggo, Sumenep, Madura resident for processed into brown seaweed tea. Brown saweed tea have a bioactive polyphenol component a antioxidant. This research was eksplorative descriptive. Fresh S.cristaefolium , dried (solution dried by sun drying for 2 days), brown seaweed tea (after soaked in a lime solution (Ca(OH) 2, pH 11, 6 hours), tea (dipping brown seaweed tea with hot water were extracted with water). Were extracted with etyl acetate solvent. Antioxidant activity was tasted with DPPH and polyphenol wit Folin-Cocalteau reagent. Value of antioxidant activity was expressed by IC 50 . IC 50 the research showed that fresh S. cristaefolium was (109.1789 ± 1.059 mg/L), dried was (123.2862 ± 4.333 mg/L), brown seaweed tea was (124.5619 ± 3.10 mg/L) and tea solution was (126.5971 ± 2.954 mg/L). Polyphenol from fresh S.cristaefolium was (0.0294 ± 0.0112 mg GAE/L), dried was (0.0201 ± 0.0033 mg GAE/L), brown seaweed tea was ( 0.0085 ± 0.4958 mg GAE/L), and tea solution (0.0037 ± 0.0006 mg GAE/L). Antioxidant activity and polyphenol content from S. cristaefolium have positive correlation result.
