Abstract
A rea lahan perkebunan tebu pada umumnya sangat luas , sehingga pengolahan tanah dilakukan secara mekanis menggunakan alat dan mesin pertanian (traktor dan alat pengolahan tanah) . Meskipun kegiatan pengolahan tanah secara teratur dianggap penting dalam budidaya tebu. Namun, pada waktu yang bersamaan roda traktor menyebabkan terjadinya pemadatan tanah. Pengolahan tanah yang berlebihan menjadi penyebab utama terjadinya kerusakan tanah (Larson dan Osborne ., 1982 ) . Pemadatan tanah dapat menghambat pertumbuhan tanaman, menghambat penetrasi akar tanaman, membatasi pergerakan air dan udara di dalam tanah dan menyebabkan pertumbuhan bibit menjadi lambat dan akhirnya akan dapat mengurangi produksi tanaman tebu. Sehingga pengolahan tanah sebaiknya seminimal mungkin ( minimum tillage ) serta dengan menambahkan abu ketel yang memiliki karakteristik yang sama dengan biochar yang dapat berfungsi sebagai pembenah tanah, meningkatkan pertumbuhan tanaman dengan memasok sejumlah nutrisi yang berguna serta meningkatkan sifat fisik, kimia dan biologi tanah ( Glaser, Lehmann, dan Zech, 2002) . Penelitian ini dilakukan di Kebun Percobaan PTPN X Pabrik Gula Bone Sulawesi Selatan pada bulan Maret 2013 sampai Januari 2014. Laboratorium penelitian di Laboratorium Pengolahan PG Bone, Sulawesi Selatan , Laboratoruim Pengolahan PG Camming, Sulawesi Selatan, Laboratorium Fisika Tanah Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Hasan nuddin , Makassar, d an Laboratorium Fisika Tanah Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Brawijaya, Malang. Variabel pengamatan meliputi berat isi tanah, porositas tanah, permeabilitas, tahanan penetrasi tanah, tinggi tanaman tebu, jumlah batang tebu, lingkar batang tebu, produksi tebu, rendemen tebu, dan analisa ekonomi. Percobaan ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan 5 perlakuan 3 ulangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa aplikasi metode pengolahan tanah dengan intensitas semakin tinggi menghasilkan produksi tebu yang semakin rendah dan biaya konsumsi bahan bakar yang semakin tinggi, sehingga menyebabkan hasil pengolahan tanahnya tidak efesien dan tidak efektif. Metode pengolahan tanah dengan intensitas pengolahan tanah subsoiling 2 kali + harrowin g 1 kali + furrowing 1 kali abu ketel 40 t dimasukan dalam larikan subsoiling (P5) menghasilkan berat isi tanah dan tahanan penetrasi tanah yang baik sehingga menghasilkan pengolahan tanah yang paling efektif dan efisien.
English Abstract
Areas of sugarcane plantations in general very broad , so that the processing is done mechanically using tools and agricultural machinery ( tractors and tillage equipment ). Although tillage as regularry are important for cultivation of sugar cane . However , at the same time the tractor wheels cause soil compaction . Excessive tillage is the main cause of damage to the soil ( Larson and Osborne ., 1982) . Compaction of the soil can inhibit plant growth , inhibit the penetration of plant roots , restricting the movement of water and air in the soil and cause seedling growth slows and eventually will be able to reduce the production of sugar cane. So that should be kept to a minimum tillage ( minimum tillage ) and by adding the boiler ash which has the same characteristics with biochar that can serve as soil amandement , increase plant growth by supplying a number of useful nutrients and improve the physical, chemical and biological good characteristic of soil ( Glaser, Lehmann and Zech , 2002) . This research was conducted at the Experimental Sugar Factory PTPN X Bone in South Sulawesi in March 2013 to January 2014 this research was done in the Processing Laboratory PG Bone , South Sulawesi , Laboratoruim PG Camming Processing , South Sulawesi , Soil Physics Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture , University of Hasannuddin , Makassar , and Soil Physics Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture , Brawijaya University , Malang . Variables include the observation of soil bulk density , soil porosity , permeability , soil penetration resistance , high sugarcane , number of cane girth of, production of cane , cane yield , and economic analysis . These experiments using Randomized Complete Block Design ( RBD) with 3 replications 5 treatments . The results showed that the application of soil treatment with the higher intensity resulted lower production of sugar cane and the fuel consumption cost is higher , thus causing this method is inefficient and ineffective . Methods of soil tillage with intensity subsoiling 2 times + harrowing 1 times + furrowing 1 time and boiler ash 40 t was put in the bolt subsoiling ( P5) that can produce good bulk density and good penetration resistance , so this tillage is the most effective and efficient.
