Abstract
Tanaman sawi merupakan tanaman yang dapat diusahakan di daerah bersuhu tinggi serta dataran rendah maupun tinggi. Produktivitas tanaman sawi dapat ditingkatkan apabila budidayanya sesuai dengan syarat tumbuh tanaman tersebut, seperti tanah yang gembur dan memiliki pH tanah yang berkisar antara 6-7. Inceptisols merupakan ordo tanah yang belum berkembang secara lanjut dan pada umumnya memiliki pH yang agak masam dengan tingkat porositas total serta stabilitas agregat yang kurang baik sehingga dalam penggunaannya yang secara terus menerus sebagai lahan pertanian dapat mengakibatkan menurunnya sifat fisik tanah. Salah satu tindakan untuk mempertahankan dan memperbaiki sifat-sifat fisik tanah adalah dengan penambahan zeolit sebagai bahan pembenah tanah. Penambahan zeolit pada tanah bertekstur liat dapat memperbaiki struktur tanah sehingga meningkatkan pori-pori udara tanah, jadi tujuan penelitian ini ialah untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian zeolit terhadap beberapa sifat fisik Inceptisols dalam memperbaiki stabilitas agregat dan porositas total tanah serta pengaruhnya terhadap pertumbuhan tanaman sawi. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Mei – Juli 2013. Lokasi percobaan berada di Rumah Kaca Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang. Analisis fisik dan kimia tanah dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Fisika dan Kimia Tanah Jurusan Tanah Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Brawijaya. Penelitian disusun dengan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan 5 perlakuan dan 3 kali ulangan. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan ANOVA dan dilakukan dengan uji F, apabila terdapat beda nyata maka dilakukan uji BNT pada taraf 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian zeolit sebagai bahan pembenah tanah mampu memperbaiki porositas total tanah dan stabilitas agregat. Porositas total tanah dan stabilitas agregat semakin meningkat seiring dengan penambahan dosis zeolit yang diberikan. Pengaruh pemberian zeolit juga dapat meningkatkan pertumbuhan dan produksi tanaman sawi.
English Abstract
Mustard green plants are the plant that can be cultivated in a high temperature areas, low and high plains. Mustard green productivity can be improved when in cultivating is accordance with the terms of the growing plant, such as loose soil and the soil has a pH ranging from 6-7. Inceptisols have not been further expanded and generally has a pH that is slightly acidic with a total porosity and aggregate stability are less well, so in that continuous use as a agricultural land can decreasing some physical properties of soil. One of the actions to maintain and improve the physical properties of the soil is the addition of zeolite as a reorganizer soil materials, so the purpose of this study is to determine the effect of zeolite on some physical properties of Inceptisols in improving the aggregate and the total porosity of the soil and determine the effect of zeolite on the growth of mustard green plants. The research was conducted on May - July 2013. Experiment location was in the screen house of Agriculture Faculty, University of Muhammadiyah Malang. Physical and chemical soil analysis carried out in the Laboratory of Physics and Chemistry Department of Soil Agriculture Faculty, Brawijaya University. Research was compiled by using a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 5 treatments and 3 replications. The observation results are analyzed using Variance of Analysis (ANOVA) by F test, if there is a significant difference then using BNT test at 5 % level. The results of the study appointment that giving zeolite as a reorganizer soil materials can improved the aggregate and the total porosity of the soil. Total porosity and soil aggregate stability increased along with the addition giving of zeolite dosage. Effect of zeolite administration can also increase of growth and production of mustard green plants.
