Abstract

Lumpur Lapindo yang dialirkan ke Sungai Porong mengandung logam berat kadmium yang bersifat racun untuk organisme akuatik serta berdampak pada menurunnya biomassa tanaman. Fitoremediasi merupakan salah satu upaya rehabilitasi perairan Sungai Porong dengan menggunakan kayu apu untuk mengurangi kadar cemaran kadmim. Kemampuan tanaman menyerap logam berat dipengaruhi oleh kondisi kesuburan media serta populasi tanaman.Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh peningkatan jumlah tanaman dan penambahan pupuk NPK cair terhadap tingkat penyerapan kadmium oleh kayu apudan mengetahui sejauh mana penurunan kadmium dalam media air.Pengambilan sampel air dilakukan di Sungai Porong untuk analisis dasar kadar kadmium dan analisis kualitas air. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa fitoremediasi menggunakan kayu apu dapat menurunkan jumlah kadmium dalam media air. Perlakuan peningkatan jumlah tanaman dan penambahan pupuk NPK cair dapat menurunkan jumlah kadmium lebih tinggi dalam media air. Data juga menunjukkan bahwa kayu apu dapat mengakumulasi kadmium dalam jaringan akar dan daunnya. Untuk analisis kualitas air, terlihat bahwa terjadi perubahan suhu, pH, DO, BOD dan COD pada media air.

English Abstract

Lapindo mud flowed into the River of Porong contain heavy metals cadmium, which is toxic to aquatic organisms as well as the impact on the decreasing biomass of plants. Phytoremediation is one of effort to rehabilitation the River of Porong by use of Pistia stratiotes to reduce levels contamination of cadmium. The ability of plants to absorb heavy metals affected by soil fertility conditions of the media as well as the plant population. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of increasing the number of plants and the addition of liquid NPK fertilizer on cadmium absorption rate by Pistia and knowing the extent to which reductions in cadmium in the water media. Water sampling was carried out on the basic of analysis of the River of Porong to cadmium levels and water quality analysis. The results showed that phytoremediation using Pistia stratiotes can decrease the amount of cadmium in the water media. The increased number of treatment plants and the addition of liquid NPK fertilizer can decrease the amount of cadmium was higher in the water media. The Data also indicate that Pistia stratiotes can accumulate cadmium in the tissues of roots and leaves. For water quality analysis, it appears that there is a change in temperature, pH, DO, BOD and COD in the water media.
