Abstract

Di bidang kedokteran gigi, tindakan ekstraksi gigi merupakan salah satu tindakan yang paling sering dilakukan. Tindakan pencabutan gigi ini dapat menimbulkan luka. Pemberian ekstrak etanol daun mengkudu (Morinda citrifolia L.) dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif pengobatan pasca pencabutan gigi karena mengandung flavonoid kuersetin dan rutin yang dapat merangsang proses penyembuhan luka yang ditunjukkan oleh regulasi ekspresi vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) dan pembentukan kolagen tipe III (Esimone, 2008) sehingga dapat mempercepat berlangsungnya fase inflamasi. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh ekstrak daun mengkudu (Morinda citrifolia L.) terhadap jumlah sel makrofag di soket mandibula pasca ekstraksi gigi pada tikus wistar (Rattus norvegicus). Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimental dengan rancangan Randomized Post Test Only Group Design. Sampel penelitian dibagi menjadi empat kelompok dengan teknik random sampling, yaitu: kelompok kontrol (P0), kelompok perlakuan konsentrasi 20% (P1) kelompok perlakuan konsentrasi 40% (P2), dan kelompok perlakuan konsentrasi 80% (P3). Variabel yang diteliti adalah jumlah sel makrofag di soket mandibula tikus wistar (Rattus norvegicus) yang dibuat pada preparat histologi menggunakan pewarnaan HE. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat selisih jumlah sel makrofag antara kelompok kontrol dan kelompok perlakuan. Analisis data Oneway ANOVA menunjukkan bahwa jumlah sel makrofag pada setiap perlakuan berbeda secara bermakna (p<0,05). Kesimpulan yang dapat ditarik dari penelitian ini bahwa ekstrak daun mengkudu (Morinda citrifolia L.) dapat menurunkan jumlah sel makrofag di soket mandibula pasca pencabutan gigi tikus wistar (Rattus norvegicus).

English Abstract

In dentistry world, tooth extraction is a common thing to do. Tooth extraction can cause wound. Application of mengkudu leaf extract (Morinda citrifolia L.) could be used as an alternative treatment post tooth extraction because it contains flavonoid kuersetin and rutin that can stimulates wound healing process which is shown by vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) expression regulation and formation of collagen type III (Esimone, 2008) so that can fasten the inflammation phase. This research conducted to know the effect of mengkudu leaf extract (Morinda citrifolia L.) towards amount of macrophague cells in mandible socket post tooth extraction at wistar rats (Rattus norvegicus). This type research is pure experimental with Randomized Post Test Only Group Design experiment plan. The research sample divided to four groups using random sampling technique, they were: control group (P0), treatment group concentration of 20% (P1), treatment group concentration of 40% (P2), and treatment group concentration of 80% (P3). Variables that have been seen were the amount of macrophague cells in mandibula soket of wistar rats (Rattus norvegicus) which made at histology preparatation using HE painting. Research results shown that there was difference amount of macrophague cells among control group and treatment groups. Data analysis using Oneway ANOVA shown that the amount of macrophague cells in each treatment was meaningful different (p<0,05). The conclusion of this research is that mengkudu leaf extract (Morinda citrifolia L.) can decreased the amount of macrophague cells in mandible socket post tooth extraction of wistar rats (Rattus norvegicus).
