Abstract
Aedes aegypti merupakan vektor biologi dari berbagai penyakit. Salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan untuk mengontrol vektor tersebut adalah menggunakan repellent untuk menolak gigitan nyamuk, tetapi penggunaan repellent kimiawi dapat menyebabkan kerugian seperti iritasi kulit dan keracunan pada manusia. Dekok daun ketumbar (Coriandrum sativum) yang mengandung zat aktif seperti minyak atsiri, linalool, dan geraniol dapat berpotensi sebagai repellent. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuktikan potensi dari daun ketumbar (Coriandrum sativum) sebagai repellent nyamuk Aedes aegypti. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain post test only control group. Indikator potensi yang dimaksud adalah jumlah hinggapan nyamuk pada cawan. Hasil penelitian, terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara dekok dengan kontrol negatif (posthoc test p < 0,05) dan tidak ada perbedaan yang signifikan antara dekok daun ketumbar dengan DEET (post-hoc test p > 0,05). Dengan demikian, ketiga konsentrasi dekok memiliki potensi yang sama dengan DEET. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa daun ketumbar memiliki potensi sebagai repellent nyamuk Aedes aegypti dan dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif repellent alami. Penurunan konsentrasi dekok akan menurunkan potensi, sedangkan lama pengamatan tidak memiliki hubungan dengan potensi repellent ini.
English Abstract
Aedes aegypti is a biological vector that causes so many diseases. One effort that can be done to control this vector is using a repellent to avoid its bite, but the usage of chemical repellent can disadvantages such as skin irritation and toxicity in humans. Coriander leaf (Coriandrum sativum) extract which contain active substances such as essential oil, linalool, and geraniol can potentially act as a natural repellent. This experiment is intended to prove the potency of coriander leaves (Coriandrum sativum) as a repellent towards Aedes aegypti. This experiment used post test only control group design. The indicator of potency is the number of mosquito perch on the container. The result, there is a significant difference between the extract with the negative control (post-hoc test p < 0,050 and there is no significant difference between the extract and the DEET (post-hoc test p > 0,05), it tells that the three concentrations have a same potency with the DEET. The conclusion is coriander leaf extract has a potency as a repellent towards Aedes aegypti and can be used as an alternative natural repellent. The decrease of the extract concentration is going to decrease the potency, while observation time does not have any correlation with the potency of this repellent.
