Abstract

English Abstract

Fine motor development in infants is influenced by nutrition, nutrition for infants can be obtained from the milk. Exclusive breastfeeding will help the babys brain to process myelination of nerve and muscle tissue. Infants who received non-exclusive breastfeeding before 6 months of age can affect the development of fine motor skills. The purpose of research to determine differences fine motor development of infants aged 6-12 months are exclusively breastfed and non-breastfed ekklusif. This study uses an observational design with cross sectional approach. Sampling technique was used purposive sampling, the population in this study were mothers and infants aged 6-12 months are exclusively breastfed and non-breastfed exclusively as many as 64 people, large samples used were 32 respondents who exclusively breastfed and 32 respondents who received non exclusive breastfeeding. Research instrument using interviews and observation sheets, the independent variable infants exclusively breastfed and non-breastfed exclusively dependent variable and fine motor development. Based on the results of research in the development of fine motor skills get better results as much as 23 infants (71%) were exclusively breastfed and 15 infants (46%) who received non-exclusive breastfeeding. Based on the results of statistical tests, Mann-Whitney Test where α = 0.05 significance value 0.034 obtained mean value of p = 0.034 <α (0.05), it can be concluded H₁ acceptable means to the development of fine motor exclusively breastfed babies better than that received non-exclusive breastfeeding. The decline in the prevalence of exclusive breastfeeding affects the occurrence of fine motor disorders in infants aged 6-12 months, in this case the education of exclusive breastfeeding is very important given to the mother.
