Abstract
Masa remaja merupakan periode transisi yang terjadi pada rentang usia 10- 19 tahun yang ditandai oleh perubahan fisik dan psikis. Perubahan fisik yang terjadi adalah perubahan Indeks Massa Tubuh (IMT) yang berpengaruh pada aspek psikis remaja dimana salah satunya adalah harga diri. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisa hubungan antara IMT dengan karakteristik harga diri pada remaja. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian observasional analitik dengan menggunakan pendekatan cross-sectional. Jumlah sampel pada penelitian ini sebanyak 158 yang diambil dari siswa kelas 8 di SMPN 21 Malang yang diperoleh melalui teknik simpel random sampling. Data IMT diperoleh melalui teknik antropometri sedangkan data harga diri diperoleh melalui kuisioner harga diri Coopersmith (CSEI). Uji statistik yang digunakan uji Spearman untuk mengetahui adanya hubungan antara IMT dengan karakteristik harga diri pada remaja. Sebagian besar responden memiliki IMT normal (82,3%) dan lebih dari 53% responden memiliki karakteristik harga diri tinggi. Hasil uji Spearman menunjukkan terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara IMT dengan karakteristik harga diri pada remaja (p=0,004). Sehingga, IMT mempengaruhi karakteristik harga diri pada remaja siswa kelas 8 di SMPN 21 Malang. Perawat komunitas dan sekolah perlu untuk bersinergi dalam upaya skrining IMT remaja sehingga permasalahan harga diri terutama yang disebabkan oleh aspek fisik dapat dikurangi.
English Abstract
Adolescence is a transition`s period towards 10-19th age and characterized by changes in the physical also pyschological aspect.The physical changes is included change of Body Mass Index (BMI) that will be affecting adolescent`s psychological side which one of them is self-esteem. The goal of this study is to analyze the relationship between BMI and self-esteem charactistic in adolescent. This research is using an observational analytical study with cross-sectional approach. The sample number of this study is 158 samples who was obtained from 8th grade of SMPN 21 Malang by simple random sampling technique BMI are measured by anthropometry method while self-esteem was collected from Coopersmith Self-Esteem Inventory Scale (CSEI) questionnaire. The statistical analysis that used is Spearman correlational test for understanding the presence of relationship between BMI and self-esteem`s characteristic in adolescents. Most of participants have normal BMI (82,3%) and more than a half of participants have high self-esteem (53%). Spearman correlational test shown significant relationship between BMI with self-esteem in adolescents (p=0,004). Thus, BMI influences selfesteem` s characteristic of adolescents in SMPN 21 Malang. Community nurses and school authorities must synergise for achieving BMI screening to decrease selfesteem problem that particularly due to physical problem.
