Abstract
Ephedrine cukup sering disalahgunakan sebagai dopping, stimulant dan halusiongen. Penyalahgunaan Ephedrine menyebabkan takikardi, kejang, nausea, muntah, insomnia, stroke, infark miokard hingga kematian. Kematian adalah berhentinya fungsi spontan pernapasan dan jantung yang irreversible ditambah bukti kematian batang otak. Salah satu cabang ilmu kedokteran untuk mengungkap kasus kematian tidak wajar adalah entomologi forensik. Aplikasi penting dari entomologi forensik adalah untuk memperkirakan waktu kematian melalui Post Mortem Interval (PMI) melalui umur larva lalat yang ditemukan pada jenazah. Pertumbuhan larva lalat dipengaruhi oleh suhu lingkungan, makanan, kelembapan, intensitas cahaya, dan kontaminan. Penelitian eksperimental ini menggunakan media dua bangkai tikus dengan berat rata-rata 200 gram. Tikus pertama diberikan ephedrine dosis toksik 120 miligram peroral (LD50 = 600 mg/kgBB) lalu dimatikan dengan dislokasi servikal. Tikus kedua dibunuh dengan cara dislokasi servikal. Kedua bangkai ini dimasukkan 2 kandang yang telah berisi masing-masing 50 lalat Musca domestica. Dilakukan pengamatan setiap 12 jam mulai dari larva lalat stadium satu sampai lalat dewasa. Setiap media tumbuh diambil 10 larva secara acak setiap hari untuk diukur panjang dan berat serta durasi pertumbuhannya. Dari hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pertumbuhan larva pada media dengan kandungan ephedrine berbeda secara signifikan dibandingkan pertumbuhan larva pada media tanpa kandungan ephedrine. Berat badan larva pada media tumbuh dengan kandungan ephedrine lebih besar dibandingan dengan larva lalat tanpa kandungan ephedrine dan durasi pencapaian stadium lebih cepat sejak hari ke-4 sore post paparan (p ≤ 0,05, Independent T-test). English Abstract
Ephedrine is often abused as doping, stimulant, and hallucinogen. Ephedrine abuse causes tachycardia, seizures, nausea, vomiting, insomnia, stroke, myocardial infarction and death. Death is the irreversible cessation of heart and respiratory function and the evidence of brain stem death. One branch of medical science to solve the case of unnatural death is Forensic Entomology. One of the most important applications of Forensic Entomology is to determine the Post Mortem Interval (PMI) from the age of fly larvae on the corpse. The growth of fly larvae is strongly influenced by environmental temperature, food, humidity, light intensity, and contaminants. This experimental study used the media of two dead rats with an average weight of 200 grams. The first rat was given 120 mg of ephedrine orally (LD50 = 600 mg/kg) the killed by cervical dislocation. The second rat was killed by cervical dislocation and used as control. The rats were each caged with 50 Musca domestica flies to let the flies deposit their eggs on the rat corpses. Ten biggest developing larvae were sampled at random twice daily to determine the body length, weight and the growth rate until they were emerging to be adult. The results showed that the growth of larvae on media with ephedrine were significantly different compared to the growth of larvae in the media without the ephedrine. The weight of Musca domestica larvae on the growing medium with ephedrine is heavier than control, and has shorter duration of stage attainment since day 4 post exposure in the afternoon (p ≤ 0.05, Independent T-test). The results of this study indicate that ephedrine can enhance the growth rate of larvae Musca domestica.
