Abstract
Lalat Musca domestica sp. dipilih karena merupakan salah satu genus lalat yang menjadi vektor mekanis untuk beberapa penyakit seperti Diare,Desentri dan Myasis. Insektisida kimiawi memberi efektivitas tinggi dalam membunuh lalat tetapi juga memiliki efek samping yang merugikan terhadap manusia dan lingkungan.Usaha alternatif sebagai pencegahan kehadiran Musca domestica dapat dilakukan dengan menggunakan ekstrak etanol daun kemangi sebagai insektisida.Daun kemangi memiliki bahan aktif linalool,eugenol dan 1,8-cineole yang diperkirakan memiliki efek sebagai insektisida terhadap lalat.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui potensi ekstrak etanol daun kemangi (Ocimum basilicum) sebagai insektisida terhadap lalat Musca domestica dengan metode semprot.Rancangan penelitian menggunakan ‘true experimental-post test only control group design’ dengan sampel yang digunakan adalah 200 ekor lalat Musca domestica.Pengulangan dilakukan sebanyak 4 kali pada 7 interval waktu yaitu jam ke 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 dan 24.Perlakuan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan kontrol positif (Malathion 0,28%), kontrol negatif (Aquades), ekstrak etanol daun kemangi 20%, 30%, dan 40%.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada konsentrasi 40% pada waktu 24 jam,100% lalat mati.Terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara konsentrasi terhadap Abbot menunjukkan nilai signifikansi yaitu (P-value) = 0,000 (P<0,05) dan koefisien korelasi (r-value) = 0,406 yang berarti korelasinya berbanding lurus yang artinya semakin tinggi konsentrasi ekstrak maka semakin besar jumlah lalat yang mati. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak daun kemangi (Ocimum basilicum) mempunyai potensi sebagai insektisida terhadap lalat Musca domestica sp. dan semakin besar konsentrasi dan semakin lama waktu paparan maka potensi insektisida semakin besar.
English Abstract
Musca domestica sp. fly was chosen as specimen for this study because it serves as an important mechanical vector for transmission several diseases such as Diarrhea, Dysentery and Myasis. Chemical insecticides have been proven to be highly effective in eradicating this pest but it will gives negative effects upon human health and environment safety, major drawbacks to its continued use. Therefore ,the alternative method for prevention of their incursion can be done by using Ocimum basilicum ethanol extract on Musca domestica sp. as an insecticide.Ocimum basilicum contains linalool, eugenol and 1,8-cineole believed to have an effect as insecticide. This study aims to find the potential effect of the Ocimum basilicum ethanol extract on Musca domestica sp. A true experimental study was conducted using 200 flies Musca domestica sp.at different three concentrations of Ocimum basilicum extract; 20%,30%,40% with 1 negative control by using Aquades and also 1 positive control which is 0.28% Malathion. The experiment was repeated for four times and each repetition was observed at seven time intervals (1st hour, 2nd hour, 3rd hour, 4th hour, 5th hour, 6th hour and 24th hour).The result shows that at concentration 40%, 100% of Musca domestica sp. specimen died within 24 hours. There is a significant and relevant difference between the results of the study at each concentration of the extract. A Pearson correlation analysis of extract concentration against the Abbot value shows a significant P-value = 0.00 (p<0.05) and a correlation coefficient (r-value) was 0.406. The r-value indicates there was a strong and linear correlation between increasing concentration of extract and increasing Abbot value (increasing potency of insecticide). Based on this result we can conclude that Ocimum basilicum is a potent and effective insecticide as there is a strong and clear correlation between increasing concentration and potency of insecticidal effects.
