Abstract
Penyakit jantung koroner menjadi pembunuh manusia nomor satu di dunia. Salah satu penyebab utamanya adalah aterosklerosis. Faktor risiko aterosklerosis yang paling utama adalah kenaikan kadar LDL dalam darah. Hal tersebut karena sebagian besar lipid pada lapisan fosfolipid LDL berupa asam lemak tidak jenuh ganda (PUFA) yang sangat mudah teroksidasi oleh radikal bebas menjadi LDL teroksidasi. Proses oksidasi LDL oleh radikal bebas dapat dicegah dengan antioksidan dan fitosterol. Salah satu tanaman yang memiliki kandungan antioksidan dan fitosterol tinggi yaitu daun katuk (Sauropus androgynus L. Merr). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian bubuk daun katuk berbagai dosis terhadap kadar LDL pada tikus yang diberi diet aterogenik. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian Post test Control Group, dilakukan pada 25 ekor tikus Wistar jantan yang dibagi secara acak menjadi 5 kelompok. Kelompok K (-) adalah tikus yang diberi diet normal (kontrol negatif), kelompok K (+) adalah tikus yang diberi diet aterogenik (kontrol positif), dan kelompok P1, P2, dan P3 adalah tikus yang diberi diet aterogenik dengan subtitusi bubuk daun katuk 6%, 9% dan 12%. Pemberian bubuk daun katuk diberikan secara per oral setiap hari selama 60 hari. Parameter yang diukur adalah kadar LDL. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata kadar LDL tertinggi diperoleh pada kelompok P1 yaitu 7.2 mg/dl dan kadar LDL terendah diperoleh kelompok P2 yaitu 3.88 mg/dl. Disimpulkan bahwa pemberian bubuk daun katuk dapat berpengaruh secara bermakna dalam mencegah peningkatan kadar LDL serum tikus dengan nilai p < 0,05 (p = 0,028).
English Abstract
Coronary heart disease became the number one killer of human in the world. One of the main causes is atherosclerosis. The risk factor of atherosclerosis is increased levels of LDL in blood. That is because most of the lipids in LDL phospholipid layer in the form of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) are very easily oxidized by free radicals becomes oxidized LDL. LDL oxidation by free radicals can be prevented by antioxidant and phytosterol. One of the plants that have a high content of antioxidant and phytosterol is katuk leaf (Sauropus androgynus L. Merr). This study aims to determine the effect of various doses of katuk leaf powder to LDL levels in rats with atherogenic diet. The design of this research study is Post test Control Group, conducted on 25 male Wistar rats were divided randomly into 5 groups. Group K (-) was given normal diet (negative control), group K (+) was given atherogenic diet (positive control), and P1, P2, and P3 was given atherogenic diet with katuk leaf powder substitution 6%, 9% and 12%. Katuk leaf powder was given orally in 60 days. The parameter has been measured was LDL level. The result showed that the highest level of LDL were observed for K (+) group were P1 is 7.2 mg/dl and the lowest level of LDL in treatment group were observed for the P2 is 3.88 mg/dl. It can be conclude that giving katuk leaf powder have significant effect for prevent increased level of LDL serum with p value < 0,05 (p = 0,028).
