Abstract

Staphylococcus aureus merupakan bakteri penyebab intoksikasi dan berbagai infeksi pada bagian tubuh superfisial maupun organ dalam. Tingkat resistensi terhadap beberapa jenis antibiotik menyebabkan pengobatan infeksi ini relatif sulit. Kawis menjadi salah satu buah yang sering digunakan sebagai obat antihelmintik, antiinflamasi, antipiretik, dan analgesik. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui efektivitas ekstrak buah kawis (Limonia acidissima) sebagai antibakteri terhadap Staphylococcus aureus . Sampel yang digunakan adalah 4 isolat bakteri Staphylococcus aureus dari pasien yang berbeda. Buah kawis mengandung senyawa aktif seperti alkaloid, saponin, flavonoid, dan tanin. Pembuatan ekstrak buah kawis dilakukan melalui proses maserasi menggunakan pelarut etanol 96%. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan dilusi agar karena hasil ekstrak berwarna gelap (coklat). Variasi konsentrasi ekstrak yang digunakan sebesar 1%; 1,2%; 1,4%; 1,6%; dan 1,8% v / v . Pada konsentrasi 1,6% v / v tidak didapatkan pertumbuhan keempat isolat bakteri. Hasil uji statistik non-parametrik Kruskall-Wallis menunjukkan adanya perbedaan efek antibakteri pada setiap perlakuan konsentrasi ekstrak buah kawis terhadap pertumbuhan koloni Staphylococcus aureus (p < 0,05). Uji korelasi Spearman menunjukkan semakin tinggi konsentrasi ekstrak buah kawis, maka semakin rendah pertumbuhan koloni Staphylococcus aureus (r = -0,897; p < 0,05). Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah ekstrak buah kawis memiliki efek antibakteri terhadap bakteri Staphylococcus aureus dengan KHM sebesar 1,6% v / v .

English Abstract

Staphylococcus aureus is a bacteria that causes intoxication and various infections of the superficial body parts and organs. The level of resistance to some types of antibiotics led to the treatment of this infection is relatively difficult. Wood apple is often used as antihelminthic, antiinflammatory, antipyretic, and analgesic drugs. This study was conducted to determine the antibacterial effectiveness of wood apple fruit extract (Limonia acidissima) against Staphylococcus aureus. The samples used were 4 isolates of Staphylococcus aureus from different patients. Wood apple fruits contain active compounds such as alkaloids, saponins, flavonoids, and tannins. Preparation of wood apple fruit extracts done through a process of maceration using 96% ethanol. This research method using a dilution of the extract in order for dark colored (brown). Variations in the concentration of extract that is used by 1%, 1.2%, 1.4%, 1.6%, and 1.8% v / v . At a concentration of 1.6% v / v was not obtained growth of four bacterial isolates. The results of non-parametric statistical, Kruskall-Wallis test showed the differences in the antibacterial effect of each concentration wood apple fruit extract on the growth of colonies of Staphylococcus aureus (p < 0.05). Spearman correlation test showed the higher concentrations of wood apple fruit extracts, the lower the growth of colonies of Staphylococcus aureus (r = -0.897, p < 0.05). The conclusion of this study is wood apple fruit extracts have antibacterial effects against Staphylococcus aureus with a MIC of 1.6% v / v .
