Abstract

Shigella dysenteriae merupakan bakteri batang Gram negatif dari famili Enterobacteriaceae yang dapat menyebabkan disentri basiler. Daun binahong (Anredera cordifolia (Ten.) Steenis) diketahui memiliki bahan-bahan aktif yang mempunyai efek antimikroba. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuktikan efek antimikroba ekstrak daun binahong terhadap ampicilin-resistant Shigella dysenteriae secara in vitro. Studi eksperimental menggunakan post control group design dilakukan terhadap ampicilin-resistant Shigella dysenteriae dengan metode dilusi tabung. Kelompok perlakuan yaitu kelompok bakteri yang diberi ekstrak daun binahong dengan konsentrasi 11,5%; 12,5%; 13,5%; 14,5%; dan 15,5%. Kelompok kontrol yaitu kelompok bakteri yang tidak diberi ekstrak atau konsentrasi 0%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa KHM tidak dapat diketahui, sedangkan KBM adalah 15,5%. Analisis data menunjukkan perbedaan bermakna antara konsentrasi ekstrak dengan jumlah koloni yang tumbuh pada kelompok sampel (Kruskall-Wallis, p < 0.05). Uji korelasi regresi menunjukkan adanya hubungan yang erat antara konsentrasi ekstrak dengan jumlah koloni yang tumbuh (korelasi, r = -0.958). Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak daun binahong (Anredera cordifolia (Ten.) Steenis) pada konsentrasi 15,5% efektif sebagai antimikroba terhadap bakteri ampicilin-resistant Shigella dysenteriae.

English Abstract

Shigella dysenteriae is Gram-negative bacilli of the Enterobacteriaceae family that causes shigellosis. Heartleaf maderavine (Anredera cordifolia (Ten.) Steenis) is known to have many active substances that have antimicrobial effect. This research is conducted to prove the antimicrobial effect of heartleaf maderavine extraction on ampicilin-resistant Shigella dysenteriae in vitro. An experimental study using the post control group design is carried out to ampicilin-resistant Shigella dysenteriae with heartleaf maderavine extract with a range of concentrations which are 11,5%; 12,5%; 13,5%; 14,5%; dan 15,5%. The control group is group treated with 0% of extract. The result indicates that MIC can’t found and MBC is 15,5%. The data analysis shows significant difference between the concentrations of extract and the number of colonies growth in the groups (Kruskall-Wallis, p < 0.05). The correlation regression test shows a strong association between the concentration of extract and the number of colonies growth (correlation, r = -0.958). The conclusion of this study was heartleaf maderavine (Anredera cordifolia (Ten.) Steenis) extract at 15,5% concentration had an effective as antimicrobial of ampicilin-resistant Shigella dysenteriae.
