Abstract
Musca domestica sp. dapat menimbulkan berbagai masalah kesehatan seperti penyakit kolera dan kurang disenangi oleh masyarakat.Usaha pengendalian kehadiran lalat Musca domestica sp. menjadi sulit disebabkan keterbatasan pengetahuan masyarakat tentang penggunaan bahan repellent atau insektisida.Usaha alternatif sebagai pencegahan kehadiran Musca domestica sp. dapat dilakukan dengan menggunakan ekstrak daun peppermint sebagai inseksida karena bahan alami ini tidak menimbulkan pencemaran.Mentha piperita memiliki bahan aktif flavanoid, terpena dan tannin yang diperkirakan memiliki efek sebagai pembunuh lalat rumah.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas ekstrak daun peppermint sebagai insektisida terhadap lalat Musca domestica sp. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental laboratorium dengan 4 kali pengulangan pada interval waktu 2 jam selama 24 jam. Sampel yang digunakan adalah 10 ekor lalat Musca domestica sp. dengan perlakuan menggunakan kontrol positif (malathion), ekstrak daun peppermint 10%, 7.5% dan 5%. Analisis yang digunakan one way ANOVA. Dari penelitian, rata-rata nilai signifikan yang diperoleh pada setiap selang waktu 2 jam adalah 0,001. Nilai tersebut adalah <0,05 yang berarti masing-masing konsentrasi ekstrak daun peppermint mempunyai perbedaan yang signifikan antara satu sama lain. Kesimpulan dari besar potensi insektisida.Selain itu, semakin lama waktu perlakuan, maka semakin tinggi potensi insektisida. Disarankan supaya adanya penelitian yang lebih penelitian ini adalah ekstrak daun peppermint memiliki potensi sebagai insektisida terhadap lalat Musca domestica sp., di mana semakin tinggi konsentrasi ekstrak daun peppermint maka semakin lanjut untuk mengetahui metode insektisida yang efektif, efek samping yang ditimbulkan ekstrak daun peppermint (Mentha piperita) sebagai insektisida serta potensi ekstrak ini terhadap lalat rumah dan parasit lain sebagai repellent dan insektisida.
English Abstract
Musca domestica sp. can cause many health problems like cholera and its presence is unconvinient to people. Muca domestica sp. population is difficult to control due to the less awareness of people to the knowledge of alternative repellent or insecticide. The alternative method for prevention of their incursion can be done by using Mentha piperita extract on houseflies (Musca domestica sp.) as an insecticide. One of the active ingredients in Mentha piperita extract, flavanoid, terpene and tannin is believed to have an effect as insecticide. The purpose of this experiment was to find the effectivity of the extract on houseflies. sp. This experimental laboratory study was repeated 4 times at 2 hours interval for 24 hours. The sample were 10 houseflies for each treatment, which were treated with aquades, Mentha piperita extract 10%, 7.5% and 5%. The result was analyzed by one way ANOVA which shows mean value of 0.001 for each interval of 2 hours. The value is <0.05 which indicates that there is a significant difference between these concentrations. Based on this result, it is concluded that Mentha piperita has the potential effect as insecticide to houseflies (Musca domestica sp.), where the higher the concentration, the higher the insecticide potential effect and vice versa. The potential effect also increases in longer time. Further experiments are needed to find the effective insecticide methode and side effects caused by Mentha piperita as well as the extract potential as repellent or insecticide on other parasites.
