English Abstract

Discussion about leading people across culture and the effectiveness of leadership has occupied academic attention for decades. This article attempts to explore the dominant cultural values of Indonesia which is Javanese from socio┬Čanthropological perspectives and its relation with contemporary Western management practices. It was found that many Javanese values practices in organizations have led to the ineffective management practices. However this article came with the conclusion that if cultural values are managed effectively it can be led to organizational effectiveness.
