Abstract
Candida albicans merupakan salah satu flora normal dalam tubuh. Flora normal tersebut bisa menjadi patogen dan menjadi salah satu penyebab terjadinya penyakit yang sering terjadi pada rongga mulut. Obat untuk mengobati infeksi Candida albicans memiliki toksisitas selektif yang rendah dan sering menimbulkan efek samping seperti pusing, mual, muntah, diare, dan kerusakan pada kulit. Salah satu tanaman obat yang banyak dipergunakan oleh masyarakat Indonesia dan telah lama dikenal adalah rimpang kencur (Kaempferia galanga L.), rimpang kencur memiliki aktivitas sebagai antijamur, salah satunya pada Candida albicans. Kandungan kimia rimpang kencur yang berperan sebagai antijamur antara lain senyawa saponin, flavonoid, polifenol dan minyak atsiri. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui Kadar Hambat Minimal (KHM) dan Kadar Bunuh Minimal (KBM) dari ekstrak rimpang kencur (Kaempferia galanga L) terhadap jumlah koloni jamur Candida albicans secara In Vitro. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain true experiment-post test only control group design dengan metode tube dilution test. Konsentrasi ekstrak rimpang kencur yang digunakan terdiri dari 0%; 0,5%; 1%; 1,5%; 2%; 2,5%; 3%; dan 3,5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukan Kadar Hambat Minimal (KHM) tidak dapat ditentukan karena ekstrak yang keruh dan nilai Kadar Bunuh Minimal (KBM) ekstrak rimpang kencur berada pada konsentrasi 3,5 %. Dari uji Oneway Anova didapatkan hubungan yang signifikan (p < 0,05) dengan korelasi yang kuat. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah ekstrak rimpang kencur (Kaempferia galanga L.) mempunyai efek antifungi terhadap Candida albicans secara In Vitro.
English Abstract
Candida albicans is one of the normal flora in the body. The normal flora can turned into a pathogen and is one of the common diseases that often occurs in the oral. Medicine for treating Candida albicans infection have low selective toxicity and often cause side effects such as dizziness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and damage to the skin. One of the medicinal plants widely used by the Indonesian people and has long been known is kencur rhizome (Kaempferia galanga L.), rhizome kencur has activity as an antifungal, one of them on Candida albicans. Chemical content of kencur rhizome which acts as an antifungal include saponin compounds, flavonoids, polyphenols and essential oils. The goals of this research is to know the MIC (Minimum Inhibition Concentration) and MBC (Minimum Bactericidal Concentration) from kencur rhizomes (Kaempferia galanga L.) extract to the amount of colonies of Candida albicans (Study: In Vitro). This research uses true experimental-post test only control group design with tube dilution test method. The concentration of kencur rhizome extract used consisted of 0%; 0.5%; 1%; 1.5%; 2%; 2.5%; 3%; and 3.5%. The results showed MIC (Minimum Inhibition Concentration) can not be determined because the extract is concentrated and the value of MBC (Minimum Bactericidal Concentration) kencur rhizome extract is at concentration of 3.5%. Oneway Anova test showed a significant correlation (p <0,05) with very strong correlation. The conclusion of this research is kencur rhizome extract (Kaempferia galanga L.) has antifungi effect on Candida albicans study In Vitro.
