Abstract

Buku teks merupakan hal yang penting dalam proses belajar mengajar. penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisa pertanyaan post-reading dalam sebuah buku teks Bahasa Inggris berjudul “Bahasa Inggris” yang disediakan oleh pemerintah untuk siswa kelas XI SMA. Pertanyaan post-reading yang dianalisa adalah semua pertanyaan yang terdapat setelah teks monolog dalam buku teks tersebut. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif-kualitatif karena penelitian ini akan memaparkan secara kualitatif perwujudan pertanyaan dalam post-reading. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan 3 lembar identifikasi yang dibuat dalam bentuk tabel sebagai instrument penelitian. Pertanyaan-pertanyaan tersebut dikategorikan dalam unit atau bab, halaman, kegiatan, tipe teks monolog, judul, dan nomor pertanyaan. Selanjutnya pertayaan akan dianalisa berdasakarkan bentuk pertanyaan dan kategori proses kognitiv. Setelah seluruh tahapan dilakukan, hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada 7 bentuk pertanyaan dalam buku teks tersebut, yaitu: yes/no question, alternative question, WH-question, writing short text/journal, identification, drawing picture, mention things, and describing. Bentuk pertanyaan tersebut didominasi oleh WH- question dengan jumlah pertanyaan sebanyak 30 pertanyaan (55,56%). Kemudian, 5 dari 6 kategori utama dan 17 dari 19 sub-kategori mempunyai presentase yang bervariasi. Kategori dan presentase tersebut antara lain: Remembering (5,55%): recognizing, recalling; Understanding (29,62%) : exemplifying, classifying, inferring, comparing, explaining; Analyzing (18,52%): differentiating, organizing, attributing; Evaluating (27,79%): checking, critiquing; and Creating (18,52%): generating, planning, producing. Berdasarkan kalkulasi prosentase, disimpulkan bahwa pertanyaan post-reading dalam buku teks yang dianalisa berada pada lefel pemikiran yang tinggi (Creating, Evaluating, and Analyzing) dengan prosentase 64,83% dan pertanyaan yang memiliki lefel pemikiran yang rendah mempunyai porsi 35,17% (Applying, Understanding, Remembering).

English Abstract

Textbook is the important part of teaching and learning process. The researcher conducted a study to analyze post-reading questions in an English textbook published by the government entitled “Bahasa Inggris” which is used by XI grade students. The post-reading questions were all of the reading questions presented after the monologue text in the textbook. A descriptive-qualitative design was used as the research method in this study, since this study attempted to elaborate the qualitatively phenomenon of the post-reading questions in the textbook. The data was collected by using three identification sheets. The questions were categorized based on the chapters, pages, activities, monologue texts, titles, and numbers of questions. Afterwards, the data were analyzed based on the questions forms and cognitive process dimension from Revised Bloom’s taxonomy. Based on the analysis, it was found that there were 8 question forms: yes/no question, alternative question, WH-question, writing short text/journal, identification, drawing picture, mention things, and describing. There were 30 questions (55,56%) in form of WH-questions. Based on the main categories, there were 5 categories found and they belong to 17 sub-categories, those are: Remembering (5,55%): recognizing, recalling; Understanding (29,62%) : exemplifying, classifying, inferring, comparing, explaining; Analyzing (18,52%): differentiating, organizing, attributing; Evaluating (27,79%): checking, critiquing; and Creating (18,52%): generating, planning, producing. Due to the percentage calculation, it was concluded that the post-reading questions in the textbook were mostly considered belonged to high level of thinking (Creating, Evaluating, and Analyzing) with the percentage 64,83% since the questions that belonged to low level of thinking had portion 35,17% (Applying, Understanding, Remembering).
