Abstract

Penelitian ini didasarkan pada pilihan moda transportasi bagi pekerja migran di Kabupaten Jombang. Pekerja migran yang dihadapkan pada pilihan antara moda transportasi umum (bus dan kereta api) maupun transportasi pribadi (sepeda motor) yang memiliki perbedaan satu sama lain seperti tingkat kenyamanan, keamanan, waktu perjalanan, waktu pelayanan, biaya ongkos dan mobilitasnya. Dimana, transportasi merupakan urat nadi bagi pembangunan suatu wilayah. Karena untuk melancarkan arus manusia, barang maupun informasi sebagai penunjang tercapainya pengalokasian sumber-sumber perekonomian secara optimal. Tidak hanya itu, pilihan transportasi juga akan mempengaruhi perekonomian dan sosialisasi masyarakat. Untuk itu jasa transportasi harus cukup tersedia secara merata dan terjangkau daya beli masyarakat. Dalam kaitan itulah, maka perkembangan perekonomian suatu kota sangat dipengaruhi oleh perkembangan sistem transportasi di daerah tersebut. Penelitian ini ingin mengetahui hubungan antara pendapatan pekerja dengan pilihan transportasi yang akan digunakan ke tempat bekerja dan faktor yang mempengaruhi pekerja dalam memilih moda transportasi yang akan digunakan ke tempat bekerja. Metode penelitian ini bersifat deskriptif kuantitatif, yaitu dimana data dari variabel yang diperoleh dari kelompok subjek yang diteliti dan tidak dimaksudkan untuk pengujian hipotesis serta menekankan penelitian ini pada data-data numeric (angka) yang diolah dengan metode statistika. Dalam penelitian ini responden yang digunakan adalah pekerja migran asal Kabupaten Jombang. Hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa variabel pendidikan dan jenis kelamin berpengaruh signifikan terhadap pemilihan moda transportasi.

English Abstract

The study was based on alternative modes of transportation for migrant workers in Jombang district. Migrant workers are faced with the choice between public transportation modes (buses and trains) or private transportation (motorcycles) who have each other’s differences such a level of comfort, safety, travel time, service time, cost and mobility costs. Where, transportation is the lifeblood for the development of a region. Due to smooth the flow of people, goods or information to support the achievement of economic resource allocation maximally. Not only that, the choice of transport will also affect the economy and community outreach. For that transportation services should be available equally and fairly affordable purchasing power. In that regard, the development of the economy of a city heavily influenced by the development of the transport system in the area. This study wants to find out the relationship between income workers with transportation options that used to work place and factors affecting workers in choosing a mode of transportation that will be used to work place. This methods research is descriptive quantitative, which is where the data from the variables obtained from a group of subjects studied and isn’t intended to test the hypothesis as well as this study emphasizes the numerical data are processed with statistical methods. In this study respondents used were migrant workers from Jombang. The result showed that the variables of education and gender significantly influence selection of transportation mode.
