Abstract

Perkembangan pesat yang dialami oleh negara-negara Asia dalam dekade terkahir telah mengangkat status beberapa negara di Asia menjadi negara berpendapatan menengah. Namun, bukan berarti pembangunan ekonomi berhenti, karena tujuan utama pembangunan ekonomi sendiri adalah meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat dengan standard of living yang tinggi. Penelitian ini akan menganalisis beberapa variabel penentu pendapatan perkapita sebagai analisa dalam upaya pencegahan growth slowdown. Adapun beberapa variabel pendapatan perkapita tersebut antara lain faktor expenditure shares, faktor human capital, demography high technology export, dan exchange rate. Analisis data akan dilakukan dalam dua tahap. Tahap pertama dengan mereduksi variabel melalui analisis faktor sehingga dapat dibentuk menjadi dua faktor, yaitu faktor expenditure shares dan human capital.Tahap kedua adalah menganalisis data dengan regresi data panel. Sampel merupakan negara-negara berkembang Asia seperti China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Filipina, dan Thailand dengan jangka waktu penelitian selama periode 1997 hingga 2011. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari segi expenditure shares, human capital dan high technology export dapat meningkatkan pendapatan perkapita suatu negara, sedangkan exchange rate dan demopgraphy berpengaruh negatif.

English Abstract

The rapid growth experienced by Asian countries in the past decade had raised some Asian countries rose to middle-income countries. However, it does not mean that economic developments have been successful, since the purpose of economic development is to improve the welfare of the community itself with a high standard of living. This study will focus on analyzing determinants of income per capita variable as prevention of growth slowdown. As for some of income per capita variable are expenditure shares factors, human capital factors, demography, high technology exports, and the exchange rate. Data analysis will be conducted in two steps. The first step by reducing the variables through factor analysis and it can be formed into two factors, namely human capital factor and expenditure shares factor. The second step is analyze the data with panel data regression. Samples are Asian developing countries such as China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Thailand with a period of research from 1997 to 2011. The results showed that in terms of expenditure shares, human capital and export of high technology can improve a countrys per capita income, while the exchange rate and demopgraphy negative effect.
