Abstract
Bahasa Inggris adalah bahasa yang penting. Dalam hal ini, banyak negara telah mendaftarkan bahasa Inggris sebagai subjek wajib dan juga beberapa dari mereka telah mendaftarkan bahasa Inggris sebagai subjek pilihan. Di Indonesia, menurut Kurikulum 2013 (K13) Bahasa Inggris milik subjek wajib di SMP dan SMA. Sekarang untuk semua sekolah yang cakap wajib digunakan13 yang memiliki fokus subjek yang ditekankan pada fungsi bahasa untuk komunikasi. Dalam hal ini, peneliti melakukan penelitian tentang metode langsung yang diterapkan dalam proses belajar pengajaran dan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris kelas 11 IPA 3 Program di Smabrawijaya Smart School (BSS), Malang. Penelitian ini memiliki tiga masalah: 1.) Bagaimana guru bahasa Inggris menerapkan metode langsung dalam proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran? Metode ThroughDirect? Penelitian ini menggunakan desain deskriptif kualitatif. Yang dijelaskan tentang proses belajar mengajar, kegiatan macam apa di kelas 11 Program IPA 3 di SMA BSS dan respons siswa ketika mereka belajar bahasa Inggris melalui metode langsung. Untuk mengumpulkan data, peneliti menggunakan empat instrumen. Itu adalah daftar periksa observasi, kuesioner, catatan lapangan, dan panduan wawancara. Kemudian, peneliti mengetahui bahwa guru bahasa Inggris selalu menggunakan bahasa target ketika dia mengajar di kelas. Jika ada siswa yang tidak mengerti, dia menggunakan media, gerakan atau mimikri untuk membantu siswa untuk memahami materi. Dalam proses belajar mengajar kepada guru-guru untuk berbicara di kelas dalam bahasa Inggris dalam bahasa Inggris. Guru membuat mereka aktif dalam kegiatan yang mendorong siswa untuk berbicara. Latihan Wereconversionversation, Pertanyaan dan Jawaban Latihan, dan Latihan Isi-In-the- Kosong. Sebagai tanggapan siswa tentang metode langsung yaitu siswa menikmati proses pembelajaran menggunakan metode langsung. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan metode langsung dalam proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris di kelas 11 Program IPA 3 di SMA BSS, dapat disimpulkan efek yang baik untuk keterampilan berbicara siswa. Ini juga membantu guru untuk menangani fungsi bahasa untuk komunikasi di K13. Penelitian ini memberikan saran untuk guru bahasa Inggris, para siswa dan peneliti masa depan.
English Abstract
English is an important language.In this case, many countries have enrolled English as a compulsory subject and also some of them have enrolled English as an elective subject. In Indonesia, according to Kurikulum 2013 (K13)English belongs to compulsory subject in junior and senior high school. Now for all of capable schools are obligated to useK13 that hasthe focus of the subject which is stressed on the language function for communication. In this case, the researcher conducted the research about the Direct Method that applied in English Teaching and Learning Processin the 11th grade of IPA 3 program at SMABrawijaya Smart School (BSS), Malang. This research has three problems: 1.) How does the English teacher apply the Direct Method in the Teaching and Learning Process?2.) What kindsof activityinthe EnglishTeaching and Learning Process using Direct Method?3.) How does students’ response in learning English throughDirect Method? The research used descriptive qualitative design.It described about teaching and learning process, what kinds of activity in the 11th grade of IPA 3 program at SMA BSS and the students’ response when they were learning English through Direct Method. In order to collect the data the researcher used four instruments. Those were observation checklist, questionnaire, field notes, and interview guide. Then, the researcher found out that The English teacher always uses the target language when she teaches in the classroom. If there was student who did not understand, she used media, gestures or mimicry to helpthe students to understand the material.In the Teaching and Learning Processthe teacherencouragedthe students to speak in the classroom in English. The teacher made them active in the activities that encouraged students to speak. Those wereConversation Practice, Questions and Answer Exercise, and Fill-In-The- Blank Exercise.As for the students’ response about Direct Method that is students enjoyed the learning process using Direct Method. It can be concluded that the applying Direct Method in the English teaching and learning process in the 11th grade of IPA 3 program at SMA BSS, it can be concludedgave good effect for students’ speaking skill. It also helped the teacher to handle language function for communication in K13. This research provides suggestions for the English teacher, the students and the future researcher.
