Abstract
Barbie di setiap film biasanya menyajikan penggunaan pengaturan waktu dalam kehidupan modern sesuai dengan ketika film diproduksi. Barbie selalu digambarkan sebagai seorang wanita muda yang selalu ada di depan setiap situasi untuk menghadapi setiap masalah. Sebenarnya ada masalah lain yang ada di lapisan lain dominasi karakter wanita dalam film yang merupakan masalah patriarki. Penelitian ini menggunakan studi budaya sebagai kerangka teoretis sebagai basis penelitian ini. Untuk menemukan hasil penelitian ini, peneliti menggunakan teori polimemi oleh Fiske yang kemudian berlanjut dengan membaca karakter sebagai alat untuk memeriksa analisis lebih dalam. Pembacaan karakter digunakan sebagai alat untuk menemukan representasi setiap karakter utama dalam film. Peneliti mengidentifikasi tentang satu ideologi yang disembunyikan di bawah lapisan dominasi perempuan. Dominasi adalah sebagai media untuk menahan nilai wanita tradisional ke dalam yang baru. Dengan demikian nilai feminin dan maskulin menunjukkan dominasi sistem patriarki dengan karakter utama yang menggambarkan dari ayah karakter utama sebagai kepala keluarga dan juga kepala Kerajaan. Bapa memiliki wewenang untuk mengendalikan keluarganya dari istrinya dan juga anak-anak-Nya. Jadi, nilai feminin dan maskulin dari karakter utama untuk melawan dominasi laki-laki adalah bentuk sistem patriarki yang secara alami ada dalam film sebagai ideologi tersembunyi. Peneliti menyarankan untuk para peneliti berikutnya untuk menggunakan karakter membaca sebagai teori dari teks-teks sekunder untuk memeriksa karakter utama dari pendapat orang tentang dominasi ideologi misalnya kapitalis patriarki untuk menganalisis Barbie pada film Princess Power sebagai objek penelitian.
English Abstract
Barbie in every movie usually serves the usage of setting of time in a modern life according with when the movie is produced. Barbie is always depicted as a young woman whom always there in front of every situation to face every problem. Actually there is another issue which it exists in other layer of the dominance of female character in the movie that is patriarchal issue. This research uses Cultural Studies as the theoretical framework as the bases of this research. To find the result of this research, the researcher uses theory of Polysemy by Fiske which it later continues with Character Reading as a tool to examine the analysis deeper. Character reading is used as a tool to find the representation of each main character in the movie. The researcher identifies about one ideology which it is hidden under the layer of female domination. The domination is as the media to resist the value of woman traditional into the new one. Thus feminine and masculine values show the domination of patriarchal system to the main character which it depicts from the main character’s father as the head of the family and also the head of the kingdom. The father has authority to control his family from his wife and also his children. So, the feminine and masculine values of main character to resist male domination are the form of patriarchal system that it naturally exists in the movie as the hidden ideology. The researcher suggests for the next researchers for uses Character Reading as the theory from the secondary texts to examine the main characters from the people’s opinion about the domination of ideology for instance patriarchal capitalist to analyzed Barbie in Princess Power movie as the object of the research.
