Abstract

Bahasa dan budaya dapat dihubungkan oleh manusia di dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Menurut Berlin dan Kay (2006), ada 11 istilah-istilah warna dasar yaitu putih, hitam, merah, hijau, kuning, biru, cokelat, ungu, merah muda, oranye dan abu-abu. Penulis menganalisis suatu objek dalam penamaan warna baru dengan compounding (Plag, 2002) berdasarkan fenomena dari sumber daya alam dan penglihatan (fisiologi) manusia. Penulis menganalisis produk-produk sepatu pria di toko online dalam pembuatan suatu penamaan warna baru. Ada dua permasalahan yang harus dijawab: (1) Apa itu istilah-istilah warna di dalam produk-produk sepatu pria di toko online dan (2) Bagaimana terjadinya proses compounding di dalam istilah-istilah warna yang ditemukan di produk-produk sepatu pria di toko online. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan penelitian kualitatif yang menunjukkan kualitas dan makna data dengan peniadaan percobaan yang diperiksa atau diukur. Pendekatan ini bertujuan untuk mengungkapan fenomena berdasarkan sudut pandang penulis untuk mendapatkan data yang berhubungan dengan variabel. Di dalam penelitian ini, penulis menunjukkan analisis data proses compounding di dalam istilah-istilah warna yang ditemukan dalam produk-produk sepatu pria di toko online. Ada 11 istilah-istilah warna dasar yaitu putih, hitam, merah, hijau, kuning, biru, cokelat, ungu, merah muda, oranye dan abu-abu. Penulis menjawab 2 rumusan masalah. (1) Penulis menemukan 40 dari 107 istilah-istilah warna yang mempunyai kriteria proses compounding. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa 40 istilah-istilah warna, dibagi menjadi 10 (hitam), 2 (merah), 2 (hijau), 4 (biru), 19 (cokelat) dan 3 (abu-abu). (2) Dan penulis menjelaskan proses compounding dibalik penggolongan istilah-istilah warna di produk-produk sepatu pria. Data menunjukkan bahwa semua merek menggunakan warna coklat lebih banyak daripada warna lain dan Portee Goods mempunyai istilah-istiah warna lebih banyak daripada merek-merek yang lain. Penulis ingin memberi saran kepada penulis-penulis lain yang ingin menganalisis subyek dan fokus pada penelitian yang sama. Pertama, data tersebut juga bisa berdasarkan istilah-isitlah non-warna. Kedua, penelitian selanjunya dapat menganalisis objek lain yang memiliki temuan lebih banyak dalam warna misalnya seperti kosmetik, cat dinding dan elektronik.

English Abstract

Language and culture are connected by human being in daily life. Based on Berlin and Kay (2006), there are 11 basic color terms exist for all human, there are white, black, red, green, yellow, blue, brown, purple, pink, orange and grey. The researcher analyzed a particular object by a new naming color with compounding (Plag, 2002) and men’s shoe products in online shop to create a new naming color based on the phenomenon from natural resources and the physiology of human vision. There are two problems to be solved: (1) What are color terms in men’s shoe products in online shop and (2) How are the compounding processes in the color terms found in men’s shoe products in online shop. This research uses qualitative approach in research that implies an emphasis on the qualities of entitles and meanings that are not experimentally examined or measured. This approach has main aim to reveal phenomenon from the reseacher’s point view to get data which is connected variables. In this research, the researcher presents the analysis of the data of compounding processes in the color terms found in men’s shoe products in online shop. There are 11 basic color terms, white, black, red, green, yellow, blue, brown, purple, pink, orange and gray. The researcher answered two research problem. (1) The researcher found 40 out of 107 color terms which has the criteria of compounding. The finding showed that in 40 of color terms, divided into 10 (black), 2 (red), 2 (green), 4 (blue), 19 (brown) and 3 (grey). (2) And the researcher explained compounding processes behind categorizing basic color terms in men’s shoe products. The data showed all brands used the color brown than other color for its products and Portee Goods has color terms which has the criteria of compiunding much more than other brands. The researcher would like to suggest to the future researchers who to conduct and focus in similar research. First, in men’s shoe products there are not only used basic color terms but also non-basic color terms. Second, men’s shoe products have limited color terms. Thus, the next research could be analyzed another object which has more finding about color terms such as cosmetics, wallpaint and electronic.
