Abstract
Bahasa adalah media untuk berkomunikasi dengan orang lain. Setiap hari kita berkomunikasi dengan orang lain untuk sekedar bertegur sapa, bercerita ataupun bertukar pikiran. Dalam berkomunikasi kita seharusnya bersikap kooperatif untuk menciptakan komunikasi yang baik. Hal itu bisa dipelajari pada kajian pragmatik tentang asas kooperatif. Prinsip kooperatif dibagi menjadi empat maksim; maksim kuantitas, kualitas, cara dan hubungan yaitu sebuah peraturan dalam berkomunikasi yang tidak tertulis. Sering sekali tanpa disadari kita mematuhi maksim tersebut atau kadang kita juga melanggar maksim yang ada. Dalam studi ini penulis menggunakan objek “Non Sequitur” komik strip untuk melakukan studi tentang pengabaian maksim. Karena itulah penulis akan menjawab rumusan masalah pada komik strip “Non Sequitur” dalam penelitian ini yaitu (1) maksim tipe apa sajakah yang dilanggar pada komik strip “Non Sequitur” (2) makna tersembunyi apakah yang terdapat pada pelanggaran maksim pada komik strip “Non Sequitur”. Studi ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif karena penulis menganalisa percakapan yang ada pada komik strip “Non Sequitur”. Hasil studi menunjukkan bahwa pengabaian maksim pada komik strip bertujuan untuk menciptakan suasana lucu dari komik itu sendiri Untuk penulis berikutnya, penulis berharap agar skripsi ini bisa menjadi inspirasi dan penulis berharap agar penulis selanjutnya bisa menggunakan teori dan data yang berbeda.
English Abstract
Language is media to communicate with others. Everyday we communicate with others by greetings, story-telling or exchanging thoughts. In communication we were required to be cooperative to make a good communication. This can be studied in pragmatics under the topic of the cooperative principles which are categorized into four maxims: maxims of quantity, maxim of quality, maxim of manner, and maxim of relevance. The maxim itself is an unwritten rule in communication. So often, unwittingly people obey the maxims but sometimes they flout the maxims. In this study, the reseracher uses “Non Sequitur” comic strip as the object of her study on flouting maxims. The writer formulated two problems of study as follows: (1) what types of maxims are flouted in the “Non Sequitur” comic strips utterances? and (2) what are the implied meanings of the flouted maxims found in the utterances of “Non Sequitur” comic strips? This study uses qualitative descriptive approach because the author analyzes conversations in “Non Sequitur” comic strips. The results of the study show that most often, the maxims are flouted in order to create funny conditions. For the next researcher, hopefully, this research becomes an inspiration to write the thesis. Furthermore, the next researchers are suggested to use different data sources and other theories of flouting maxims.
