Indonesian Abstract

Bahan material vulkanik Gunung Kelud hasil letusan Februari 2014 berbutir kasar dan mengandung silika yang tinggi sehingga dapat menyebabkan pemadatan, dan menurunkan kapasitas infiltrasi. Pemanfaatan bahan organik dengan tanaman liar yang banyak terdapat di lokasi terdampak letusan dapat dimanfaatkan untuk memperbaiki penurunan infiltrasi. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan Februari 2016 - Januari 2017 di Desa Pandansari, Kecamatan Ngantang, Malang. Plot percobaan dibuat dengan ukuran 0.5 m x 0.5 m, yang diisi dengan ketebalan lapisan material vulkanik yang berbeda (5 dan 15 cm). Bahan organik (pupuk kandang dan daun ubi jalar) kemudian diaplikasikan dengan dosis setara 20Mg.Ha-1. Setelah 2 minggu inkubasi, Tithonia diversifolia ditanam. Pengukuran laju infiltrasi dilakukan setelah Tithonia diversifolia dan Arachis pintoi berumur 5 bulan, menggunakan Single Ring Infiltrometer, dan dihitung dengan Metode Kostiakov. Pada saat yang sama, contoh tanah diambil untuk analisa sifat fisik (kapasitas menahan air, porositas, berat isi dan permeabilitas). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, kombinasi bahan organik daun ubi jalar dan tanaman T. diversifolia dapat meningkatkan laju infiltrasi tanah terdampak erupsi Gunung Kelud dengan nilai 0.01 cm min-1. Jika membandingkan tanaman pionir, tanaman T. diversifolia lebih dapat meningkatkan laju infiltrasi dibanding A. pintoi dengan nilai berkisar 0.06 cm min-1 hingga 0.18 cm min-1. Selain meningkatkan laju infiltrasi, bahan organik dan tanaman pionir dapat memperbaiki sifat fisik bahan letusan dan tanah tertimbun. Laju infiltrasi tanah tertimbun bahan letusan setebal 5 cm (0.47 cm min-1) lebih cepat dibandingkan tanah tertimbun bahan letusan 15 cm (0.45 min-1).

English Abstract

Pyroclastic materials from the late eruption of Mt Kelud (February 2014) are dominated by coarse particles and contain high content of silica, hence may result in soil compaction and reducing infiltration rate. Locally available organic matter and wild plants could be utilized to increase infiltration rate in the impacted area. An experimental research was then conducted in Pandansari, Ngantang, Malang. The experimental plots (0.5 cm x 0.5 cm sized), were filled with pyroclastic materilas with diferent thickness (5 cm and 15 cm). Organic matter from different sources (cow dung and sweet potatoe leaves) were incorporated to the pyroclastic materials at the rate of 20Mg.Ha-1. Tithonia diversifolia and Arachis pintoi cultivated after 2 week incubation with organic matter. Infiltration rate was measured 3 months later, using Single Ring Infiltrometer, and calculated based on Kostiakov method. At the same time, materials were sampled for laboratory physical analysis. Water holding capacity, bulk density, soil porosity and soil permeability were measured. Based on the results of the research, the combination of sweet potato leaves and T. diversifolia increased the infiltration rate of soil covered by pyroclastic material with a value of 0.01 cm min-1. Comparing the impact of wild plants, T. diversifolia plants increased infiltration rate more than A. pintoi with the range of 0.06 to 0.18 cm min-1. The increasing of infiltration rates was in accordance to the improvement of physical properties in the pyroclastic material and soil beneath. Infiltration rate of the soil covered by pyroclastic material 5 cm (0.47 cm min-1) appeared to be faster than 15 cm thick (0.45 cm min-1).
