Indonesian Abstract

Salah satu kawasan di Kota Surabaya yang mempunyai tingkat akumulasi pencemaran terbesar adalah wilayah Wonorejo. Pb dan Cu merupakan logam berat yang terdeteksi dalam jumlah yang tinggi pada wilayah ini. Avicennia alba mempunyai kemampuan menyerap logam berat, namun terdapat ancaman pada jaringan mangrove itu sendiri, dikarenakan logam berat mampu mengubah struktur jaringan mangrove. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui kandungan Pb dan Cu yang terdapat dalam sedimen, akar dan daun Avicennia alba; mengetahui potensi Avicennia alba sebagai agen fitoremediasi; mengetahui pengaruh faktor lingkungan terhadap gambaran histologi jaringan akar dan daun Avicennia alba. Distribusi Pb dan Cu menunjukkan bahwa Cu lebih tinggi dibandingkan Pb pada sedimen, akar dan daun. Nilai rata – rata Cu di sedimen (32.74 ppm ± 4.87) lebih tinggi dari Pb (17.32 ppm ± 3.20). Nilai rata – rata Cu pada akar (11.58 ppm ± 3.18) juga lebih tinggi dari Pb (3.58 ppm ± 1.01), serta di daun didapatkan hasil Cu (10.29 ppm ± 0.47) lebih tinggi dari Pb (6.43ppm ± 1.07). Nilai rata – rata faktor biokonsentrasi (BCF) menunjukkan untuk kedua jenis logam berat kurang dari satu (Pb 0.22 ; Cu 0.35) yang menunjukkan bahwa Avicennia alba bersifat excluder terhadap logam berat (Pb dan Cu), sedangkan nilai faktor translokasi (TF) untuk kedua logam berat bersifat berbeda dimana Avicennia alba bersifat fitoekstraksi (1.94) terhadap Pb dan bersifat fitostabilisasi (0.97) terhadap Cu. Berdasarkan perhitungan fitoremediasi (FTD) yang memiliki nilai kurang dari satu untuk kedua logam berat (Pb -1.72 ; Cu -0.62) menunjukkan bahwa Avicennia alba belum optimal untuk mengakumulasi logam berat Pb dan Cu di daerah penelitian. Berdasarkan hasil pengamatan histologi jaringan akar dan daun Avicennia alba, terlihat jelas perubahan (adaptasi) dan kerusakan pada jaringan akar daripada jaringan daun.

English Abstract

One of the regions in Surabaya which has accumulated the largest pollution levels was the region of Wonorejo. Pb and Cu are heavy metals that have been detected in high concentration in this region. Avicennia alba has been known to have the ability to absorb heavy metals. However this ability can be threat to the mangrove tissue by changing the mangrove tissue structures. The purposes of this research were to analyze the concentration of heavy metals (Pb and Cu) in sediments, roots and leaves of Avicennia alba; to understand the potential of Avicennia alba as an agent of phytoremediation; to describe the changing of tissue histology (roots and leaves) of Avicennia alba due to environmental factors. The result showed that Cu concentration was higher than Pb concentration in sediment, roots and leaves. The average concentration of Cu in the sediment (32.74 ppm ± 4.87) was higher than Pb (17 ppm ± 3.20). The average concentration of Cu in the roots (11.58 ppm ± 3.18) were also higher than Pb (ppm 3.58 ± 1.01), as well as Cu concentration in the leaves (Cu 10 ppm ± 0.47 ; Pb 6.43 ppm ± 1.07). The average value of bioconcentration factor (BCF) was less than one (Pb 0.22; Cu 0.35) that means Avicennia alba was categorize as excluder of both heavy metals. Translocation factor (TF) of Pb was categorized phytoexstraction (1.94) and Cu was categorized phytostabilisation (0.97). The results of the phytoremediation (FTD) showed that both Pb and Cu less than one (Pb-1.72; Cu- 0.62), which means Avicennia alba was not optimal to accumulate heavy metals Pb and Cu in the study area. Based on observation on histology of root and leaf tissues of Avicennia alba, there was clearly visible changes (adaptation) and damages to the tissues of the roots rather than the leaves tissue.
