Abstract
Penelitian ini menganalisa tentang kohesi leksikal yang ditemukan di dalam lirik lagu milik Adele di album yang berjudul 25. Kohesi leksikal adalah perangkat linguistik yang menjadikan suatu teks menjadi saling berhubungan. Kohesi leksikal adalah cara untuk mengetahui hubungan antara satu kata ke kata lainnya di dalam suatu teks, dan juga memberikan peran penting atau kontribusi terhadap teks tersebut. Selain itu, penelitian ini berfokus kepada jenis-jenis dan juga fungsi dari kohesi leksikal, yang dibagi menjadi 2 kategori, yaitu reiterasi dan kolokasi. Dan reiterasi juga dibagi menjadi 5 kategori, yaitu: antonim, sinonim, metonim dan hiponim Sebagai tambahan, untuk melakukan penelitian ini, peneliti menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif, karena data tersedia dalam bentuk kata-kata, frasa, dan kalimat. Data dari penelitian ini adalah bait-bait dari lagu yang yang ada di album yang berjudul 25, antara lain: Hello, Send My Love, I Miss You, When We Were Young, Remedy, Water Under The Bridge, Riverlea, Love in the Dark, Million Years Ago, All I Ask dan Sweetest Devotion. Di dalam penelitian ini, peneliti menemukan jenis-jenis dan fungsi dari kohesi leksikal dengan menggunakan teori dari Rankema (2004) sebagai teori utama. Peneliti mengambil data secara acak dari semua lagu dari album 25, untuk menghindari data jenuh, dan semua data akan ditampilkan di lampiran. Sebagai tambahan, peneliti menemukan jenis dan fungsi dari kohesi leksikal di beberapa lagu seperti Hello dan All I Ask, contohnya di lagu All I Ask, kata ‘scared’ atau ‘takut’ disebutkan dua kali dalam satu baris yang sama, dan ini dapat dikategorikan sebagai repetisi untuk memperjelas maksud penulis. Akhirnya, peneliti menyarankan kepada peneliti selanjutnya yang tertarik untuk menganalisa topik yang sama, dapat menggunakan penelitian ini sebagai pembanding atau referensi dan juga menggunakan teori baru dari kohesi leksikal untuk membuat penelitian mereka menjadi lebih baik. Diharapkan penelitian ini dapat membantu para pembaca untuk memahami hubungan antara satu kata dengan kata lainnya di dalam sebuah lirik lagu atau tipe teks dalam hal memahami kohesi leksikal.
English Abstract
This research analyzes about lexical cohesion found in the lyrics of Adele’s songs in the 25 album. Lexical cohesion is the linguistic devices which makes the texts is being interconnected. Lexical cohesion is the way to know the connection between word to word in the text and it gives the important role or contribution to the texts. Furthermore, this research focuses on the kinds and functions of lexical cohesion which is divided into two main categories; reiteration and collocation. And also, reiteration is divided into five categories, there are: repetition, antonym, synonym, metonym, hyponym. In addition, to conduct this research, the researcher uses descriptive qualitative method since the data in the form of words, phrases, and sentences. The data of this research is the verses from all song in the album entitled 25 there are: hello, send my love, I miss you, when we were young, remedy, water under the bridge, river lea, love in the dark, million years ago, all I ask, and sweetest devotion. Then, in this research, the researcher finds the kinds and the functions of lexical cohesion by using the theory from Rankema (2004) as a major theory. The researcher takes some data randomly from all the song from 25 album to avoid the data saturation and also all the data will be showed in appendices. In addition, the researcher finds the kinds and functions of lexical cohesion in some song such as all I ask and hello, for instance, in the first song entitled All I Ask, the word ‘scared’ is stated twice in the same line so it can be categorized as repetition. Thus, there are a lot of repetitions to make the narrator’s idea clearer. Finally, the researcher suggests for the next researchers which is interested to analyze the same topic can uses this research as comparison or reference and also uses the new theory of lexical cohesion to make their research better. Hopefully, this research can helps the readers to understand the relationship from one word to another word in the song lyrics or the other types of texts in terms of understanding the lexical cohesion.
