Indonesian Abstract

Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah minat baca siswa kelas X SMA Panjura Malang masih kurang sehingga keterampilan berdebatnya terhambat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui minat baca siswa, keterampilan berdebat siswa, dan pengaruh minat baca tehadap keterampilan berdebat siswa kelas X SMA Panjura Malang. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif jenis ex-post facto. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara wawancara, penyebaan angket, tes, uji validitas dan reliabilitas. Analisis data dengan analisis persentase minat baca dan keterampilan berdebat, uji prasyarat, dan uji regresi linier sederhana. Hasil penelitian menunjukan minat baca dan keterampilan berdebat siswa kelas X SMA Panjura Malang berada pada kategori baik dengan persentase minat baca sebesar 84,11% dan keterampilan berdebat sebesar 75,71%. Hasil uji regresi sederhana diperoleh Y = 7,597 + 0,050X, artinya setiap penambahan 1 minat baca, maka nilai keterampilan berdebat bertambah sebesar 0,050. Hasil perhitungan uji-t diperoleh thitung sebesar 2,926 dengan signifikansi sebesar 0,004 < 0,05 yang artinya minat baca berpengaruh terhadap keterampilan berdebat siswa. Hasil perhitungan koefisien determinasi diketahui R square sebesar 0,075, artinya minat baca memengaruhi keterampilan berdebat sebesar 7,5% dan 97,4% dipengaruhi oleh faktor lain.

English Abstract

This research has conducted because tenth grade students at SMA Panjura Malang have low interest in reading which obstruct their debating skill. The aim of this research is to know students reading interest, and the influence of students reading interest on students debating skill of tenth grade students at SMA Panjura Malang. This research used quantitative approach with ex-post facto method. The technique of data collection was done by interview, spread questionnaire, test, validity and reliability test. The analysis was done by several stages: percentage analysis of reading interest and debating exercise, prerequisite test, and simple regression test. The result of this research showed students reading interest and debating skill of tenth grade students at SMA Panjura Malang is in good category with reading interest percentage of 84,11% and debating skills of 75,71%. The results of simple regression test obtained Y = 7,597 + 0,050X, it means that each addition of 1 interest in reading, then the value of debating skills increased by 0,050. The result of t-test calculations obtained tcount of 2,926 with a significance of 0,004 < 0,05 which means that reading interest give effect in students debating skills. The result of determination coefficient calculation known that R square amount 0,075, it means that reading interest influent debating skill amount 7,5% and 97,4% influenced by other factors.
