Indonesian Abstract

Keterbatasan pada anak tunarungu mempengaruhi kebutuhan pendidikan mereka sehingga memiliki pengetahuan yang masih kurang khususnya pengetahuan di bidang kesehatan gigi dan mulut. Pengetahuan tentang cara memelihara kesehatan gigi yang rendah menyebabkan tingginya angka karies pada anak tunarungu. Salah satu cara untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan kesehatan gigi dan mulut anak tunarungu adalah menggunakan permainan edukatif yang berupa permainan puzzle COSGI (mencocokkan dan menyusun gambar gigi). Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengetahui pengaruh permainan edukasi puzzle COSGI terhadap perubahan perilaku kesehatan gigi dan mulut anak berkebutuhan khusus di SDLB YPTB Malang. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian observasional analitik, dengan pendekatan cohort. Sampel yang digunakan sebanyak 36 siswa SDLB-B YPTB Malang yang diberikan edukasi melalui permainan puzzle COSGI dan diikuti perkembangan kebersihan gigi dan mulutnya selama 28 hari melalui pemeriksaan indeks debris. Hasil penelitian melalui uji korelasi Spearman menunjukkan adanya hubungan signifikan antara pengetahuan dan sikap dengan nilai signifikansi lebih kecil dari α (0.001<0.050) serta antara pengetahuan dan tindakan dengan nilai signifikansi lebih kecil dari α (0.021<0.050), serta uji regresi linier menunjukkan adanya pengaruh yang kecil dari pengetahuan terhadap sikap sebesar 16.2% dan tindakan sebesar 15.9%. Hasil uji cohort menunjukkan angka resiko relatif baik sebesar 0.848. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah terdapat pengaruh dari permainan edukasi puzzle COSGI terhadap perubahan perilaku kesehatan gigi dan mulut anak berkebutuhan khusus di SDLB YPTB Malang.

English Abstract

The limitations of hearing impaired children affect their educational needs so that they have the lack of knowledge especially in oral health. The lack of knowledge of dental health supports high rates of caries in hearing impaired children. One way to increase knowledge of dental and oral health of hearing impaired children by using educational games in the form of COSGI puzzle games (matching and arranging images of teeth). The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the COSGI puzzle educational game (matching and compiling dental images) on changes in dental and oral health behavior of children with special needs at SDLB-B YPTB Malang. This study was an observational analytic study, with a cohort approach. The sample used was 36 students of SDLB-B YPTB Malang which were given education through COSGI puzzle games and followed the development of dental and oral hygiene for 28 days through debris index examination. The results of the Spearman correlation test showed a significant relationship between knowledge and behavior with a significance value smaller than α (0.001<0.050) and between knowledge and actions with a significance value smaller than α (0.021<0.050), and a linear regression test showed the amount of influence of knowledge on behavior was 16.2% and actions was 15.9%. The cohort test results showed a relatively good risk figure of 0.848. The conclusion of this study was that there was an effect of the COSGI puzzle educational game on changes in dental and oral health behavior of children with special needs in the YPTB Malang Elementary School.
