Indonesian Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian tentang uji aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak etanol daun ubi jalar ungu ( Ipomoae batatas l ) terhadap bakteri Staphylococcus aureus dengan metode dilusi agar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kadar hambat minimum ekstrak etanol ekstrak daun ubi jalar ungu terhadap aktivitas bakteri pada bakteri Staphylococcus aureus. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan mengekstraksi daun ubi jalar ungu menggunakan etanol 96% dengan metode meserasi, kemudian ekstrak yang diperoleh dibuat beberapa konsentrasi yaitu 0,3%, 0,4%, 0,5%, 0,6%, 0,7% dan 0,8% dengan control 0%. Dan dilakukan pengujian aktivitas bakteri dengan metode dilusi agar. Hasil pengujian menujukan bahwa ekstrak etanol daun ubi jalar ungu memiliki aktivitas antibakteri terhadap Staphylococcus aureus yang ditandai dengan adanya zona hambat. Bakteri Staphylococcus aureus memberikan zona hambat tertinggi pada konsentrasi 0,8%. Dari hasil perhitungan statistik tidak menunjukan perbedaan yang signifikan dari diameter hambatan konsentrasi 0,3%, 0,4%, 0,5%, 0,6%, 0,7% dan 0,8%. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak etanol daun ubi jalar ungu memiliki aktivitas anti bakteri karena dapat menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri Staphylococcus aureus.

English Abstract

In this research has been approved the antibacterial activity of an extract ethanol of purple sweet leaves (Ipomoae batatas l) against bacteria of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria with the methods agar dilution. This research aims to determine the minimum inhibitory content of ethanol extract of purple sweet potato leaves against antibacterial in Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. This research was carried out by extracting purple sweet potato leaves using 96% ethanol with meseration method, then the extracts obtained were made several concentrations namely 0.3%, 0.4%, 0.5%, 0.6%, 0.7% and 0.8% with 0% control. And bacterial activity testing was carried out by agar dilution method. The test results showed that the ethanol extract of purple sweet potato leaves had antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus which was characterized by the presence of inhibitory zones. Staphylococcus aureus bacteria provide the highest inhibition zone at a concentration of 0.8%. From the results of statistical calculations, it does not show a significant difference in the diameter of the concentration barriers of 0.3%, 0.4%, 0.5%, 0.6%, 0.7% and 0.8%. So it can be concluded that the ethanol extract of purple sweet potato leaves has anti-bacterial activity because it can inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria.
