Abstract
Kandidiasis vulvovaginalis adalah infeksi jamur pada vulva dan intravagina dengan penyebab paling sering Candida albicans. Terapi menggunakan obat-obat sintetik seringkali menimbulkan resistensi, efek toksik dan berbagai efek samping. Terapi alternatif yang dapat dipilih adalah dengan menggunakan daun cengkeh (Syzygium aromaticum). Tujuan dilakukan penelitian ini adalah untuk membuktikan bahwa ekstrak etanol daun cengkeh (Syzygium aromaticum) mampu menghambat pertumbuhan Candida albicans secara in vitro. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode dilusi agar dengan sampel berupa satu isolat Candida albicans. Bahan uji yang digunakan adalah ekstrak etanol daun cengkeh yang dibuat dengan metode maserasi dengan konsentrasi 0%, 0.1%,0.2%, 0.3%, 0.4%, 0.5% dan 0.6% serta kontrol positif berupa fluconazole 0.6%. Kadar Hambat Minimal (KHM) pada penelitian ini adalah 0.6%. Pertumbuhan Candida albicans diinterpretasi berdasarkan jumlah koloni, ketebalan koloni dan diameter koloni. Berdasarkan jumlah koloni, hasil uji analisis One Way ANOVA didapatkan nilai signifikansi p=0.000, uji Korelasi Pearson menunjukkan koefisien korelasi (R) = -0.921, dan uji Regresi menunjukkan nilai (r2) = 0.847. Berdasarkan ketebalan koloni, hasil uji analisis One Way ANOVA didapatkan nilai signifikansi p=0.000, uji Korelasi Pearson menunjukkan koefisien korelasi (R) = -0.954, dan uji Regresi menunjukkan nilai (r2) = 0.911. Berdasarkan diameter koloni, hasil uji analisis One Way ANOVA didapatkan nilai signifikansi p=0.000, uji Korelasi Pearson menunjukkan koefisien korelasi (R) = - 0.933, dan uji Regresi menunjukkan nilai (r2) = 0.870. Dari hasil analisis statistik tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak etanol daun cengkeh memiliki aktivitas antijamur dan efektif dalam menghambat pertumbuhan Candida albicans.
English Abstract
Vulvovaginal candidiasis is a fungal infection in the vulva and intravagina with the most frequent causes by Candida albicans. Therapy using synthetic drugs often causes resistance, toxic effects and various side effects. Alternative therapies that can be chosen are using clove leaves (Syzygium aromaticum). The purpose of this study is to prove that the ethanol extract of clove leaves (Syzygium aromaticum) is able to inhibit the growth of Candida albicans. This study uses a dilution method with one isolate of Candida albicans as a sample. Ethanol extract of clove leaves made by maceration method with some concentration 0%, 0.1%, 0.2%, 0.3%, 0.4%, 0.5%, 0.6% and fluconazole 0.6% as positive control. Minimal Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) in this study is 0.6%. The growth of Candida albicans is interpreted based on the number of colonies, colony thickness and colony diameter. Based on the number of colonies, the results of the One Way ANOVA analysis showed p value=0.000, the Pearson Correlation test showed a correlation coefficient (R) = - 0.921, and the Regression test showed a value (r2) = 0.847. Based on colony thickness the results of the One Way ANOVA analysis showed p value = 0.000, the Pearson Correlation test showed a correlation coefficient (R) = - 0.954, and the Regression test showed a value (r2) = 0.911. Based on the diameter of the colony, the results of the One Way ANOVA analysis showed a significance value of p = 0.000, the Pearson Correlation test showed a correlation coefficient (R) = - 0.933, and the Regression test showed a value (r2) = 0.870. From the results of the statistical analysis, it can be concluded that the ethanol extract of clove leaves has antifungal activity against Candida albicans and has ability to inhibit the growth of Candida albicans effectively.
